For the third year in a row, we are beyond proud to receive the Quality Award… at this point, we might need to give it its own room 😄

From the bottom of our hearts, we sincerely thank all our wonderful guests. Your support, your smiles, and your kind words keep our entire team going (especially during those busy August days!).

As the Gökçen Hotel family, we are deeply grateful for the motivation you give us and for recognizing the passion behind what we do. This award belongs just as much to you as it does to us.

And just like that, another beautiful season has come to an end! 🌸

A huge thank you to our amazing team and to all our wonderful guests — you made this season truly unforgettable.
There were days full of laughter, days when we were tired, but every single moment was worth it.

With the motivation from our fantastic team, our lovely guests, and the joy of receiving awards two years in a row, we’re already so excited for 2026! 🎉

And once again, it’s us — and once again, success!
With great pride and excitement, we are delighted to share that we have received the Jet2 Holidays Quality Award for the second year in a row. Winning this prestigious award once is already an honor, but achieving it two years in succession is a true testament to the dedication, perseverance, and passion behind everything we do.

We owe this achievement, first and foremost, to our incredible team, who give their endless effort, heart, and energy every single day. And of course, to our valued guests, whose trust and support inspire us to do better each year — we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We always do our best with room requests, but please note they depend on availability on the day.

✨ Ground floor & garden view rooms are our most popular requests – sadly we can’t offer them to everyone.
✨ If stairs are a concern, please choose Superior or Suite instead of Standard rooms.
✨ For separate beds, book a Triple room (Standard rooms don’t have twins).

Have you ever noticed the jugs on the rooftops of old Anatolian houses? 🏡

Back in the day, they weren’t just decoration. If there was a jug on the roof, it meant there was an unmarried girl in the house 💍✨
It was like a symbolic announcement — the old-time version of saying “it’s time for a marriage proposal.”

Of course, in some places it was simply for good luck or decoration. But this is the story most often told. 💜

Nowadays, this tradition is completely gone — just a sweet rumor from the past.

Why do people kiss hands in Turkish tradition?

We get this question a lot — so here’s your answer 👇

1. Respect for elders
A sign of honoring parents, grandparents, and older relatives. It reflects deep respect for their wisdom and experience.

2. Cultural & religious roots
This tradition is influenced by Islamic values and Ottoman customs, both of which highlight the importance of respecting elders. It’s also a way of receiving their dua (blessing).

3. Special occasions
Seen during Bayram (Eid), weddings, and family gatherings. Children often kiss elders’ hands as a formal gesture of love and respect.

4. Symbolic meaning
After kissing the hand, it's brought to the forehead — symbolizing the transfer of wisdom and blessings to the heart and mind.

"In Turkish culture, especially during special occasions like Bayram, it is customary to give children candy, chocolate, or money (called harçlık) after they kiss the hands of elders."
