Stella Maris AOS Kaohsiung Reaching out to Seafarers, fishermen and migrant workers Stella Maris –Kaohsiung, Taiwan was established by an American Jesuit chaplain, Fr. After Fr. Fr.

Joseph Donohue, SJ (1915- 1991). The mission started in 1971 catering to wearied American soldiers/servicemen in duty break from Vietnam War. Donohue went back to America in 1991, he was replaced by the PIME Fathers. Gilberto Orioli, PIME started the ministry to distressed fishermen. In 1993 the center was transferred to #37 Lainan St. (from its former place in Cishan Rd.). As more Asian seafarers
