Absolutely, encountering mountain gorillas and chimpanzees in their natural habitats is a truly unforgettable and unique experience. Both species are remarkable in their own ways.
Mountain Gorillas:
- Mountain gorillas are the largest primates in the world and are known for their thick fur which allows them to survive in colder mountainous regions.
- They have a robust build with broad chests and shoulders, and mature males develop a large sagittal crest on top of their heads.
- Mountain gorillas have longer and darker fur compared to other gorilla species, primarily to help them keep warm in their high-altitude habitats.
- Their gentle nature and close-knit family groups make them fascinating to observe, especially their social interactions and behaviors.
Chimpanzees:
- Chimpanzees, on the other hand, are highly intelligent and share about 98% of their DNA with humans.
- They have longer arms than legs, allowing them to move efficiently through the trees and engage in impressive acrob. More info will during our next trip.
