Artisan Apparel was started by Ketty Promise and Devon Feldmeth in 2013. Ketty is from Gulu, Uganda and Devon Feldmeth is from Los Angeles, California. First, she saw that there was not enough modern day African wear for the modern day African woman and man. Second, having worked with handicap persons during her career, she saw how there were not enough job opportunities for handicap women. Devon
upon her trips to Uganda became inspired by the strength of the women in Northern Uganda and fell in love with their bold hearts as well as their bold fashion and prints. Her background is in design, and she wanted to share the beauty of Uganda to inspire her community back home. Together Ketty & Devon founded Artisan Apparel Uganda to bring opportunity to women and encourage creative ideas. Artisan Apparel Uganda is centered around the concept of empowering with beauty. We want to encourage women & men (no matter where you are from) to celebrate the strength and power of African prints and have you feeling and looking your best. All of our products are custom and hand made to meet your creative designs and needs by women in Gulu, Uganda.
