🦍🌊 FROM THE MISTY FORESTS OF BWINDI TO THE BEAUTIFUL WATERS OF BUNYONYI

Today’s adventure gave us a perfect combination of wildlife, culture, scenery and relaxation.

Our day followed the unforgettable experience of gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where we ventured into the forest in search of mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

From Bwindi, we continued to Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda’s spectacular highland lake, surrounded by rolling hills and numerous islands.

One of our stops was the island famously known as Punishment Island, which carries fascinating stories from the history and traditions of the local communities around Bunyonyi.

As evening approached, we returned to Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort and watched the sun slowly disappear over the hills, bringing our adventure-filled day to a peaceful close.

HOW SAFE IS SWIMMING IN LAKE BUNYONYI?

This is one of the questions many travelers ask before visiting this beautiful lake in southwestern Uganda.

The good news is that Lake Bunyonyi is widely known for being free of bilharzia (schistosomiasis) and for having no crocodiles or hippos. This makes it a popular destination for swimming and other water activities. (This is Uganda - The Pearl of Africa)

That means swimmers should not assume that the absence of dangerous aquatic animals makes every part of the lake risk-free. Water conditions, weather, swimming ability and distance from shore all matter.
