Today is a very sad day for the old-timers at Red Chilli Hideaway as we come together to remember and celebrate Anne's life. Anne started off at Red Chilli Rest Camp in 2005 but moved very early on to our Kampala Hideaway, which she kept running during our darkest time. She went on to lead the camp here for 3.5 years and we have been longing for her to come back and visit us ever since! She was a fantastic manager and an even greater friend. Our deepest love and hugs to her children and family. Anne Bruce - you will be dearly missed ######xx

On Saturday Red Chilli hosted a truly memorable celebration at our Rest Camp in Murchison Falls National Park, to mark 20 years since the tragic passing of our founder, Steve Willis.

With over 70 guests joining us from all corners of the world, the event began with a sundowner boat cruise up the Nile (courtesy of Wild Frontiers) and was followed by heartfelt speeches, a delicious hog-roast buffet, an exciting raffle and dancing under the stars.

We are incredibly proud to announce that over US$15,000 was raised for the Steve Willis Memorial Fund over the course of the weekend! These funds will directly support communities around the park through clean water initiatives, including borehole construction and hygiene & sanitation programmes.

On Monday morning, following the party, eight members of the Willis family attended the official handover of one such borehole at Runyanya Primary School near Kiryandongo — a powerful reminder of the lasting impact Steve continues to have.

We’re buzzing with excitement here at Red Chilli, as preparations are in full swing for the party of the decade up in Murchison this Saturday, 15th November! 🎉

This special event is raising funds for the Steve Willis Memorial Fund, in memory of Red Chilli founder Steve Willis, who was tragically killed in the park 20 years ago. 💛

Supporting the communities around Murchison Falls National Park has always been a very important part of what we do — drilling boreholes to provide clean drinking water in villages, health centres, and schools. If you’d like to contribute, please email us at [email protected] and we’ll be happy to share donation options.

Dear guests, our bar roof in Murchison is undergoing repairs during the next few days. While the repairs are ongoing, capacity of our bar lounge area is at 50% only. The restaurant with its extension is fully available for you to enjoy a hot meal and a cold drink in the meantime.
