Bugoma Chimpanzee Trekking + Stay at Nguse River Camp (Uganda)
📍 Bugoma Forest chimpanzees
Chimpanzee trekking in Bugoma Forest Reserve is one of Uganda’s newest and less-crowded primate experiences.
Compared to places like Kibale, it’s more raw and off-the-beaten-path.
What to expect:
Trek duration: ~2–4 hours
Daily sessions: 8:00 AM or 2:00 PM
Permit cost: about $80 per person
Experience: Track habituated chimp groups with guides through dense rainforest
Wildlife: Chimps, mangabeys, colobus monkeys, birds, and occasional elephants
👉 The forest hosts hundreds of chimpanzees, with at least one habituated troop open to tourism.
