Our Story

Seated in the heart of the ancient batholith town of Mubende, Nakayima Hotel is still a popular stopping place where weary travelers quench their thirst and enjoy a good meal. Nakayima Hotel in Mubende is now a modern three star hotel, marked by hospitality, personal attention and excellent value for money. A homecoming for both the business and leisure guest. Your home away from home since 1975 has a conference hall, nice rooms, elegant dining room ,well stocked bar, quiet and cozy atmosphere with ample parking space engulfed with guaranteed security.

Named after the 1500 year old Nakayima Tree. Each side of the tree represented a different aspect of the pantheon of local Buganda spirits. The story goes that Nakayima, who was married to King Ndawula, was protecting the tree against some tyrant. She walked and disappeared into the tree, and became one with it. Someone tried to cut the tree down once, but that person died in an accident so the tree is protected by the spirit of Nakayima.

Tree Rooms:

Maama Nabuzana: prepares the cooking, takes care of the children, and represents fertility as witnessed by the offerings of pots and jugs filled with water placed by the base of the tree.
