💔🚨 SHE WAS ONLY 15 YEARS OLD. 🚨💔
Journee should still be here.
Instead, her mother, Lisa, received the phone call every parent dreads. Witnesses said her cries after learning her daughter had been shot could be heard throughout the neighborhood—a mother’s heartbreak that no words can truly describe.
According to investigators, Journee was spending time with her best friend at a family friend’s apartment in Southeast Washington, D.C., when the two teenagers reportedly gained access to a firearm that had been left unsecured. Police say the gun discharged, striking Journee in the head at point-blank range.
She did not survive.
Police say the 15-year-old who fired the gun will not face criminal charges because investigators determined the shooting was accidental.
Instead, authorities arrested the adult who allegedly owned the firearm after determining it was illegally possessed, unregistered, and left unsecured where children could access it.
And this is what has so many people asking the same question:
How does a child get access to a loaded gun?
One moment of negligence changed multiple lives forever.
A 15-year-old girl lost her future.
A mother lost her daughter.
Another teenager must now live with the trauma of what happened for the rest of their life.
Journee deserved to grow up.
She deserved birthdays, graduation, adulthood, and the chance to build the life she dreamed of.
Instead, another family is planning a funeral.
💔 Justice for Journee.
