Whistle Stop RV Resort

Whistle Stop RV Resort We are a 8 year old resort that still has that new feeling. We love our guests! We are a perfectly rated 10/10*/10 Good Sam park for 4 years and counting.

Whistle Stop RV Resort is Abilene's 2nd newest RV Resort, but we are still the BEST. We offer large pull-thru (big enough for large diesel pushers with tow behind vehicles/trailers), pull-in, and back-in sites. We also have a small convenience store located in our office, large clubhouse for meetings and groups, swimming pool, lighted pickleball court, regulation sand volley ball pit, private bath

, and laundry facilities. we have 12'x12' horse stalls available for rent for guests traveling with horses. All sites have 20/30/50 electric service, city water and sewer, a good selection of cable channels, and park wide complimentary streamable WiFi. For those using jet packs and hot spots, the park does have a 5G tower on site. Verizon and AT&T are VERY strong. T-Mobile is fair.

It's HOT! 111°F HOT.

While many of us RVers focus on staying cool during heat like we've been experiencing, other animals are seeking the cooler areas and shade as well. While most are pretty harmless, here in west Texas, rattlesnakes are not.

So please, be careful and cautious while outside, especially in shaded areas. Juvenile snakes may not have enough buttons to give the "rattle" that many people think they'll hear. In these hot temperatures, snakes are fast, and they tend to be more irritable (me too 🤣).

It's time for an update...

And we still don't have power to a majority of the resort (this includes all of our daily/short term sites). Nothing has changed on AEP's outage map since yesterday, and the projected reconnect date and time still shows as 10:00pm tonight.

The high today will be just shy of 100°F, and until we have power back, we cannot open the pool. We have everything in place so that once the power is reconnected, the pool should be open within a couple of hours or once all parameters are within their normal/safe range when tested.

Fingers crossed that our power is restored and this will be the last of the damaging storms for a good while. We badly needed the inch and a half of rain that fell on Sunday, however I think we could have lived without the damaging straight line winds. There have been reports that some people saw triple digit wind gusts, with the highest "official" gust that was just over 80mph. Outside of a few missing shingles, destruction of one of our playground structures, and damage to our privacy fences along the front and rear of the resort, we faired well all things considered.

These are not my pictures, these are from Abilene residents:

A good portion of the resort remains without power with an ERD (estimated restoration date) of 10:00pm tomorrow.

I truly wish there was something we could do for all of our guests without power. Tomorrow is a new day and we truly hope to have everything pass inspections and/or tests. I can only pray that our resort is restored with electricity that will cover not our RV sites/park, but everyone facing the extreme heat headed our way.

Still no real update from AEP. A majority of the resort remains without power.

Unfortunately, our pool cannot be opened as the feed our pool pump is on does not have power. The pool has to be circulating and the debris that blew into the pool yesterday have to be out of it as well.

Unfortunately, the entire resort is without power at this time. AEP is assessing conditions, and I will update if/when an update becomes available.

This storm brought a lot of damage with it, and with that damage, thousands are without electricity. Crews are busy assessing the damage and trying to predict the best route moving forward.

07/06/2026

The front portion of the resort is without power at this time. AEP is stating an approximate 9pm restoration time.

We have storm damage to fences, and our playground equipment. Please refrain from allowing children from playing in/on our playground at this time. Gusts over 80mph were seen with the last storm.

Thank you!
