Happy Father’s Day to All the Dads! 🎣🚤🔥

Today, we're celebrating the dads, grandfathers, stepdads, and father figures who make family adventures unforgettable.

The ones who teach us how to bait a hook, start the campfire, launch the boat, tell the best stories, and somehow always know how to fix whatever breaks. They're the early risers for fishing trips, the grill masters at the campsite, and the memory-makers behind so many family traditions.

Whether you're spending the day on the water, around the campfire, or simply enjoying time with family, we hope it's filled with laughter, relaxation, and the people who matter most.

From all of us at Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina, Happy Father's Day and thank you for everything you do!

⭐ Guest Review Spotlight ⭐

Nothing makes us happier than hearing that our guests enjoyed their stay!

"Was a wonderful little campground right on the water. Our site was freshly paved. Every time we called to ask questions, they answered the phone every time and their online side of things is also very easy to navigate. Recommend to anybody in the area. Dog friendly!"

— Crazy Glampin Divers

A huge thank you to Crazy Glampin Divers for taking the time to share their experience with us. We also want to thank all of the wonderful guests who have left us such kind reviews lately. Reading your comments, seeing your photos, and hearing about the memories you've made here means more to us than you know.

As a family-owned campground, we put a lot of care into maintaining and improving the park each season. From paving sites and upgrading amenities to answering phone calls and helping guests plan their stay, it's incredibly rewarding to hear that those efforts are making a difference.

Lately, we've been feeling the love, and your feedback reminds us why we do what we do. Thank you for choosing Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina and for supporting our family business. ❤️

🦅 Wildlife Wednesday 🦅

One of the things we love most about life on the Bush River is that you never know who might stop by for a visit.

This beautiful heron was spotted enjoying a quiet morning by the water, and we're so glad it paused long enough for this incredible photo! 📸

A huge thank you to Allison O. for sharing this wonderful shot with us. We absolutely love seeing Bar Harbor through the eyes of our guests. Wildlife, sunsets, boating adventures, family memories, or your favorite campsite view, your photos help tell the story of what makes this place so special.

📷 Have a great photo from your stay? We'd love to see it! Share it with us and you might be featured in a future post.

📸 What Other Campground Can Say That ALL of Their Off-Waterfront Overnight Sites Have Waterfront Views? 🌊

That's one of the things that makes Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina so unique.

While many campgrounds separate their waterfront and off-waterfront sites completely, our overnight section was designed so that even our off-waterfront sites still enjoy beautiful views of the Bush River. That means you can wake up to the water, enjoy your morning coffee with a view, and soak in the waterfront atmosphere without booking a waterfront site.

Just look at this incredible view from an off-waterfront campsite! 👀

A special thank you to Mike Voss for sharing this beautiful photo from his stay with us. We love seeing the park through our guests' eyes, and this shot perfectly captures one of Bar Harbor's hidden advantages.

🦀 Chesapeake Bay Traditions Are Alive and Well at Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina 🌊

Some things never go out of style.

Here on the Bush River, many of the same traditions that have been passed down through generations of Chesapeake Bay families are still part of everyday life. Early mornings spent fishing from the shoreline, afternoons pulling crab pots, boat rides with family and friends, watching bald eagles soar overhead, and gathering around a campfire as the sun sets over the water.

These simple moments are what make life on the Chesapeake so special.

At Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina, we're proud to be a place where families can slow down, reconnect with nature, and create memories that feel a little like stepping back in time.

Whether you're teaching your kids how to bait a crab line, enjoying fresh steamed crabs at your campsite, or watching the river wake up with a cup of coffee in hand, you're experiencing traditions that have defined this region for generations.

What's your favorite Chesapeake Bay tradition? Tell us in the comments! ⬇️

Do You Know How We Got Our Name?

I get asked this question all the time, especially by guests who are surprised to find out we're in Maryland and not Maine!

The story goes back to my grandparents, Philip and Joan Schaefer, who founded what was originally known as Bar Harbor Campground. Our park is located just off Long Bar Harbor Road in Abingdon, Maryland, which is where the name originated.

Of course, the name has caused a little confusion over the years. We completely understand why people assume we're located in Bar Harbor, Maine. In fact, every season we have several guests accidentally book with us thinking they're headed to a campground in a completely different state!

But here's the interesting part.

Back in the 1960s, marketing looked a lot different than it does today. There was no internet, no social media, and certainly no Google search. If you wanted people to find your business, one of the best places to be was near the top of the phone book listings.

My grandparents realized that if they called the campground Long Bar Harbor Campground, it would be listed farther down the page. So they dropped the word "Long" and named it Bar Harbor Campground instead, helping it appear closer to the top of the campground listings and making it easier for future customers to find.

As the campground evolved over the years, the name eventually became Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina, but the Bar Harbor name remained.

Marketing may have changed a lot since the 1960s, but our name has become part of our history. Even though it causes a little confusion from time to time, we wouldn't change it. It's a reminder of the creativity, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit that helped my grandparents build this place more than six decades ago.

Thanks for being part of our story.

🌟 Campsite Showcase: Site P15 🌟

Hidden gems are some of our favorite spots in the park, and Site P15 is definitely one of them.

At first glance, many guests assume P15 is a waterfront site—and honestly, we can see why! It enjoys many of the same perks as our waterfront sites, with beautiful river views, easy access to the shoreline, and a peaceful waterfront atmosphere. The difference? It sits just a little farther back from the river's edge, which means it is priced as an off-waterfront site.

Recently, Site P15 received a major upgrade. We paved, widened, and raised the site, making it more comfortable and spacious than ever before.

The result? A site that offers the feel of waterfront camping at an off-waterfront rate.

If you're looking for one of the best values in the park, Site P15 might just become your new favorite spot.

📍 Waterfront vibes
🌳 Shade from mature trees
🚐 Newly paved and expanded pad
💲 Off-waterfront pricing
✨ One of Bar Harbor's best-kept secrets

Have you stayed on P15 before? We'd love to hear what you think!

Check our website to see if P15 is available for your next trip!
