It’s hard to believe we’re halfway through the year! Time is flying by and we’re savoring these long summer days.

It is a joy to host so many outdoorsy humans and kind dogs. We love making it easy to get out and explore with your pup. Nelson County is so special.

If you’re hoping to sneak in a weekend getaway this year, these are our only remaining weekend dates. If the site isn’t showing availability when you search, then it has already been booked. You can either join the waitlist for a cancellation or try a weekday stay.

The Indigo House is the perfect staycation getaway for you and your pup. Just a short drive from Washington, DC, Maryland, West Virginia, and North Carolina, it’s a modern B&B with convenient access to Charlottesville, Shenandoah National Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Wintergreen, and the area’s best vineyards and breweries. Avoid the crowded beaches and sneak away to the mountains this summer I bet a little roadtrip like this from Roanoke, Richmond, Raleigh or Virginia Beach is less expensive than a flight to California wine country.

Start your morning here at the Indigo with locally roasted coffee in bed, a farm-to-fork breakfast, and plenty of fresh mountain air. Go for a hike and spend your afternoon touring the incredible breweries and wineries- Nothing is super fancy and you can still have a date night for $50. Grab a casual dinner out while you listen to local live music. If it can be fermented, fried, sandwiched, or pizza-ed, we’re doing it here.

Wind down at the end of the night with a board game, a new book, a drink by the fire pit, or stargazing. Our sweet, national park-inspired rooms accommodate two adults and come stocked with the essential items for a luxurious stay. It’s a perfect, cozy staycation for you, your favorite person, and your pup!

I love a backyard wedding and this one was so fun and personal.

With a first look at the mountaintop, a convertible ride through the Blue Ridge Parkway, a board game reception, and lots of laughter, this wedding was crafted with meticulous detail and all the right vibes. They picked the Indigo because of the views, dog friendliness (Jupiter just had to be a part of the ceremony), and the ability to completely control the event. They had a vision and it was executed perfectly!
