After several days of uncertainty, we are relieved to share that the individual who had been evading law enforcement has been apprehended on Lucas Lodge property.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Sheriff John Ward, the Curry County Sheriff’s Office, neighboring county law enforcement agencies, the Oregon State Police Troopers, and the U.S. Marshals Service whose dedication, professionalism, and persistence led to a safe resolution.

We would also like to recognize Lucas Lodge owners Jim and Susan, along with Lodge Manager Jennifer and the entire Agness community, who rallied together to help get this situation resolved and aid in locating the suspect. The vigilance, communication, and support shown by our community throughout this ordeal was truly remarkable and serves as a reminder of what can be accomplished when people come together.

Most of all, we are grateful to finally breathe a little easier and relax knowing this situation has been resolved. Thank you to our guests, neighbors, friends, and community members for your patience, concern, and support over the past several days.

We appreciate everyone who worked tirelessly to bring this situation to a safe and successful conclusion. ❤️

As the day comes to a close, we find ourselves with more questions than answers.

Based on information we received yesterday, it appeared that the dog was believed to be inside the cabin. However, we have since learned that may not have been the case, leaving us uncertain about many aspects of the situation and the extensive law enforcement presence throughout the day.

At this time, we have not received any additional updates from authorities and, unfortunately, do not have any new information to share with our community. We understand that many of you are looking for answers, and we share your concerns and desire for clarity.

If and when official information becomes available, we will provide updates as soon as we can. Until then, we appreciate your patience and understanding.

Edit to add 10:5am:
LE has given us no confirmation that this man is on the FBI’s 10 most wanted list. Has not even been mentioned to us. Just for clarification.

Additional Info as of 8:40 am:
He ended up in Agness because he said he picked it out on a map. He showed up in a white GMC with Texas plates (unconfirmed if it was stolen or not). He told us he had no cellphone. He stayed Monday night and Tuesday morning told us his truck would not start. The OnStar had locked the vehicle. We are assuming this is how he was tracked. Shortly after this authorities quickly started to arrive and he disappeared from the Lodge at that point and ran towards our cabin where officers saw him enter/run between our cabins. They surrounded the cabin because his dog was inside making noise and they thought he was inside as well.

Update for everyone:

The individual involved is no longer at the cabin and is believed to have left the area on foot. Law enforcement safely secured the dog that was with him and has continued their search efforts.

During the search of the lodge property, authorities located the individual’s hat and the dog’s collar near the river trail. The last known direction of travel was reported to be southeast of Lucas Lodge.

Law enforcement remains involved and will continue to handle the situation. We are grateful for their efforts and appreciate everyone’s patience and concern.

As always, the safety of our families, staff, and community remains our top priority. We will share additional updates if and when they become available.

Update as of 7:54 pm: There are about 60 total law enforcement officers here. It is unconfirmed his name or any information as to why he is wanted. That information has not been shared directly by law enforcement, anything of the contrary is unconfirmed. As soon as we know we will share more. He did arrive in a vehicle with Texas plates, but we do not have confirmation that is his home state.

In order to address rumors spreading and to ensure we do not hinder and active situation:

There is currently an active situation involving an individual barricaded inside one of our cabins at Lucas Lodge. There is no hostage.

Law enforcement is on scene and working diligently to resolve the situation safely and we are respecting their ability to do their job in the most effective and safe way possible.

At this time, all staff and community members are safe. There are no guests currently staying there.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as authorities continue their response and are grateful to the first responders.

We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
