Dear Partners,
We're writing to make you aware of the Colorado Fire on Hwy 140 between Midpines and Briceburg. The fire was initially reported at 1:39 p.m. and is currently estimated at 25 acres. The fire is rapidly growing and threatening structures. There is currently 0% containment. Air attack resources are deployed to assist ground crews. There are evacuations ongoing. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will share updates as they become available.
For visitor and business planning purposes: Highway 140 is currently closed due to fire activity. Highway 41 and Highway 120 remain open and continue to provide access into Yosemite National Park and the greater park area. El Portal is available via those alternate routes. If you have guests or visitors traveling to the region, please direct them to use Highway 41 or Highway 120 as their route of entry until further notice, and encourage them to check current conditions before departing.
We understand this is a fast-moving situation, and conditions can change quickly. Please monitor Watch Duty, Cal Fire, and Mariposa County Office of Emergency Services for the most current information. We'll send updates as soon as we have them.
