Aiken is Horse Country

If you are interested in knowing more, or speaking out, about the huge new chicken slaughter house being built at exit 22 please attend Aiken City Council meeting on Monday 3/25 at 7:00.
The city is incentivized the plant by giving them huge quantities of water at reduced rates. It will be the largest single water user.

Neighboring counties.

I know this is a page primarily for Columbia, but I know some folks have rentals in Lexington County. I want to make the group aware that there is a 2nd reading of a STR ordinance for Lexington County Next Wednesday, 11/15 at 4:30 PM. The restrictions are MUCH harsher than what was passed in Columbia, and limits non-owner occupied rentals to certain zoning districts and street types. Many current rentals will be made illegal.

Those impacted or in Lexington County, please try to show up to the meeting, and please email the councilmembers below. The zoning requirements are the biggest issue, but also 3 day minimum, and minimum age requirement of 25.

Thank you Teddy Milner for taking time to understand and respond to owner’s concerns about the city’s new interest in short term rentals. Among other things, short term rentals are very important to Aiken’s horse and tourism business.
