I made a pass through the campground today and everything looks good... No downed trees, just a few small patches of snow in shaded areas, and the ground is drying up where the sun has been able to cast it's beams, however nothing is really greening up just yet. While the forecasted temps are still in the 30s overnight for the next week, it should be a warming trend shortly. While driving by, I noticed that the ice went out on 8th Crow Wing Lake overnight. At this rate, we should be able to accept bookings for those who are hardcore campers by May 1st, but it might still be a bit cool for most folks...

With the recent rain we've had, the ground is a bit soft which makes it easier to pull stumps when opening up more sites, however it also means that the tractor has the tendency to sink into the soft soil, so it's a bit of a double-edged sword. Our goal this year is to have 18 sites available by the end of the summer. One of the sites is to be a multi-unit site (100' X 150') that will accommodate up to four RVs so that groups can camp together. And if this type of site is popular, we may just eventually create another one or two.

Bookings for the campground are starting to trickle in. We have two sites booked for three nights on Memorial weekend and just got another one for a single night that same Friday night. The first two are repeat guests. I guess they enjoyed their stay last fall. :)

Our goal is to provide a relaxing, natural forest setting for RV camping while preserving the wilderness and allowing safe access for guests.

With the unseasonably warm weather we've had so far this year, we are hoping to be open this 2024 season by the fishing opener (May 10) but mother nature will be officially making that call. We will be opening with the same four sites as last year, but are very close to opening another six and hopefully have a total of 18 sites available by the end of the summer. At the suggestion of one of our guests last year, one of the sites we will be working on is a multi-site so that up to four units can camp together. This is one nice thing about developing the property as we go. We are basically using an empty canvas in order to meet our guest's needs. We've already had a few people contact us about availability and are looking forward to not only meeting new guests, but returning guests as well. Here's to everyone having a great summer and we hope to see you all soon. Allen

My business page (RV There Yet Campground, LLC) just got a message from someone offering to write a review of my campground for a fee. In my opinion, writing a review is dishonest if they have never used a product or service... How low will some people stoop?

With the late spring and an additional 4 inches of snow on Thursday along with temps in the 30s this week, we regret to inform everyone that our campground will not be opening on May 1st as originally planned. We are currently shooting for May 25th, weather permitting.

With May 1st fast approaching, I sure hope we get some snow-melting temps soon... 🌞

Just so everyone is aware, because we do not have permanent shower facilities, state law mandates that anyone who wishes to stay at our campground must use an RV that is equipped with shower facilities on board. We do have satellite toilets, a yard hydrant so that you can fill your water tanks, and a dump station for disposing of grey and black water. I am sorry for any inconveniences this may cause and permanent shower facilities are a high priority for the future.

Our family purchased 80 acres of beautiful northern pine forest just south of Akeley in the spring of 2020 and got to work developing the land ourselves!  Our goal is to provide a relaxing, natural forest setting for campers while preserving the wilderness as it is, clearing only what we need to in...
