All four teams at CWC Sand Sculpture Contest got balloon animals yesterday, courtesy of judge's family. (They even made me a crow, bless 'em!) Meanwhile, creativity abounded on the beach with team Cheetah Squad gained the win with "Snail Castle." I was impressed with the detailing on Bear Squad's "Turtle of the World." Team Rainbow Unicats' "Cabin of Summer" was an amusingly told layout of the resort complete with pathways to friends' cabins, and Team Narwhal built a wonderful "Beachside Escape" with natural pool and stick walkways. So imaginative!

This kid is having the best week ever. Won CWC blackout bingo, found the CWC medallion, caught a big bass, shared jokes with family over a campfire, painted a stunning picture, and geez, the week is only half over!

CWC Sandsculpture Contest: Am still smiling at the Loony Mermaid (when I pointed to the mermaid's abdomen and asked if she was reading as it looked kinda like a book, they said, "nope, it's her abs!") They even came up with 3D printed eyes and a crown, very cool. Team 99-Dollar Hot Tubs dug a hole to China - just kidding - and displayed a solar powered hot tub with jets (they were quick to point out jets were non-functional. :) ) Team "Three Loons" won 1st place, according to the 7-year-old judge today, with their loon posed getting ready to fly off the lake. Impressive creations today, good job peeps!

Teams of five peeps in all three CWC sculptures today - a perfectly sunny day on the beach. Most original award went to a Loon Clock from team "Late4School" which was impressively large and distinctive (including a reddish rock for the eye, and clock dials. Dad even came down and contributed a loon call recording from his phone to convey to the judges the sound of loon wails heard from many a CWC cabin's clock, ha.) Team "Hug-A-Turtle" won Best Story Telling with their Turtle Lake display, complete with napping rocks and excellent textured turtle shells. And Team "Hydra Homies" won Most Complex & Rich Detail for their CWC Sand Sculpture - the judges were impressed with their use of vegetation and teamwork.

Isaiah finished rebuilding new lakeside sauna stove, yay! He used his former masonry skills and lots of thought and sweat equity to work in more efficient heating elements, safer venting and layers of lasting coats of proper sealant so that guests can continue to use lakewater for steam purposes for many years to come. Enjoy!

A guest graciously shared this lovely pic snapped from deck of her new cabin overlooking the grassy meadow campfire ring (where her family was enjoying a hot dog roast last Monday), only an hour (?) before a rather shocking (heh) lightning storm hit the lake. (Thnx, Mary!)

A thoughtful repeat guest gifted us these salt and pepper shakers because she thought they "belonged here." Now proudly displayed on the lodge mantle (thank you, Sue!) I gave em a good view of da lake to enjoy for a moment first!
