Our Story:
It was the summer of 1965 on a family camping trip at Millwood Lake in Southwestern Arkansas that I have my first memories of fishing with my grandfather. I also have fond memories of our talk one-on-one riding back from the lake to my grandparents’ home in Lockesburg, Arkansas, in my grandad’s 1947 red Chevy pickup. At the time, as a rambunctious 10-year-old, I had no clue memories would be formed that would last a lifetime. My dad, who spent several tours in Vietnam in the 60’s, was not around much at that time, so any time we had to spend together, especially in the outdoors was memorable.
These family outdoor gatherings managed to instill a love for the outdoors that enabled me to pass that passion on to my four sons. From camping, fishing and hunting trips in Arkansas and Texas as a youngster, to working with my dad as deck hand on his charter boat on the coast of North Carolina as a teenager, I was totally hooked! After a stint in the military, I was blessed to meet my soulmate and together we began our adventure of raising a family and sharing traditions passed down from our parents and grandparents.
Sunrise Lodge on Lake Fork is a culmination of four generations’ love for the outdoors. From my grandfather’s and father’s fishing tackle and family pictures to mounts that cover the walls, including a tribute wall of Lake Fork record fish, our lodge has often been referred to as a mini-fish and game museum by our guests. We invite those who share our love for the outdoors or would just enjoy a rustic setting at our first-class accommodations to accept our cordial invite to check us out.
