Ferrari has unveiled Hypersail, a new 100-foot flying ocean racing monohull designed by naval architect Guillaume Verdier, aiming to create an energy self-sufficient yacht that runs entirely on renewable sources such as solar, wind, and kinetic energy.

Scheduled for launch in 2026, Hypersail will serve as a high-performance R&D platform for offshore sailing, featuring a flight control system adapted from Ferrari’s automotive expertise and designed to maintain stable flight on three points of contact without external support.

The project brings together Ferrari, sailor Giovanni Soldini, and designer Guillaume Verdier, filing nine patents and developing six more for innovations such as energy systems and structural designs, positioning Hypersail as the first yacht of its size to operate entirely without fuel, stopovers, or external support.
