The first time we walked through the front door of this amazing home and gazed down the beautiful coastline, Britton and I both knew immediately our search for a vacation home on the Mendocino coast was over. Living in San Francisco the majority of time we had the privilege of being the caretakers of this fabulous place by the Mendocino coast for almost seven years and it was a welcome and tranquil oasis to retreat from the daily grind of life in the city. There are too many wonderful memories of our times there with family, friends or just the two of us with our two dogs to recount in this farewell. We loved that home so much I thought in the beginning we would end up retiring there. Times change though and our destiny landed us on another beautiful western coast line, this time in Portugal, far away from our beloved home in Albion. With much travel still to do in Europe, little time to return to the US and much effort to reach our home and without our dogs there who now live in Portugal too we realized visits would be short and never the same. Add to that the realization setting in that sharing a property eight time zones away was an arduous task of management, we came to the difficult decision to part ways. We do so blessed with our time and memories there and with the good fortune of passing this amazing place on to wonderful new local caretakers. They are better suited now than we are to continue to love, care for and enjoy this home with their family and friends and they will continue to share it with others and their pups as we did when not enjoying it ourselves. So with that said we will pass the torch tomorrow and wish all the best to the new family caring for this beautiful home and the best of times to all who visit this magical place in the future.

It's the end of an era! When we bought our beloved La Puerta del Mar almost seven years ago, our plan was to spend as much time in Albion as we could and retire there eventually. Then came 2020 -- when covid changed everything -- and our plans changed. We moved to Portugal in 2022. And now, it's time to pass the torch.

We've sold our house, and the lovely new owners are taking over on Friday, February 16. They'll continue to rent it through Airbnb and I'm sure they'll love being the stewards of such a beautiful, unique home every bit as much as we have. We'll always cherish the memories of our time in Albion.
