Meet a Muralist!

Kei Tsuzuki and Molly Luethi are two social entrepreneurs with a vision and a mural you may have seen while shopping at their Nob Hill store. They opened their doors in 2010 and knew they could use their business as a way to impact the lives of immigrants and refugees in our community. Starting their commercial venture to show how a business could be sustainable while doing good was the seed that started Kei & Molly Textiles. Known for their screen print designs, this business has thrown their work on the wall, and it’s stuck.

On March 10th, I had booked a stay for 2 days online. I get there, check in, and received two keys to my motel room. I have to do laundry and had come prepared with soap snd spare change. While I’m downstairs, I run into a kid around my age,mid 20’s. Seems like a cool guy, not to sketchy or anything as I’m smoking a cigarette after putting the cloths to wash. He asked me if he could charge his phone and told me he was waiting for his girlfriend to return and was locked out until she returned. He’s in my room maybe 10 minutes tops, I didn’t have anything unpacked yet snd the room was still in perfect order. There wasn’t anything out that I was really worried anout him stealing. He leaves, all is well. Or so I thought... Later that evening, I’m ready to go out for a while snd decided to check out the casino since they had re opened and as I’m leaving, I notice that i can’t find the 2nd room key. I thought nothing really of it, it was probably in my jeep. I remember to check after arriving at the casino, and couldn’t find it. I call the hotel and ask if they could cancel the keys until I got back. I was told that they would handle that and I was relieved almost instantly. Upon arrival to the hotel, the front desk guys being a complete fool. I told him I needed a key and I didn’t have my mask and I had parked in the very back on the left hand side by the dumpsters. I told him I called and he overreacted about me not having a mask. The doors are locked and all he literally had to do was walk to the door and slide it under the door or there is a hallway that has doors to the lobby that I told him he could slide it beneath. I’m not sure what his problem was but he started tripping about me trying to kill him cause I didn’t have a mask and literally made a big ordeal when it was an easy thing to do snd the reaction was really unessessary. I record the last bit of it snd im already like wtf, and had started going off on him too but I had just paid almost $200 and didn’t want to get kicked out because some guy has mental issues. He remade the key, which I received only 1 of. I return to my room. It’s 2 am at this point and I instantly pass out. I woke up the next morning at almost 1 pm and I go out to smoke a cigarette and holy s**t my jeep is gone. I go straight to the office and alert them and ask them to pull the cameras. At 11:29 that morning, the kid goes to my door. And let’s himself in. And then comes out , jumps in my vehicle, and drives away like he owns it. I can’t believe what I’m seeing. At this point I really didn’t think twice about how he got into my room, I was too busy freaking out about my jerp which I had just paid off and have invested so much into since it became mine. It’s my pride and joy really. I needed to have work done on it the following day, and wasn’t intending on using it much. I call the police snd make a report. My mom contacted our insurance and I make a post on Facebook. The kid had left his is jail I’d in my bathroom and I had remembered I had it. I got a message from a woman that said my jerp was in estancia! I thought she was tripping, but by the grace of god, I got a message saying that the guy that stole my jerp was asleep at their place, and that he had my car outside. I go to the address and get my keys. I didn’t wanna let him get away So I called an Uber and decide to handle getting the car back cause the cops take forever. I walk in and the kid is asleep, I wanted to kick his head in honesty, but I didn’t. I got into my car snd drove it a ways up the street snd had called to have the vehicle search stopped by apd. I guess that every on duty officer received a notification when a vehicle gets reported, and the officer told me to call if I found or heard anything. The lady that said she saw my car wasn’t lying either: he had driven it close to 300 miles in the 14 hours he had it and there was close to $11,000 in damages. My insurance won’t pay for it because there was drug paraphernalia, on the floor, a bunch of pieces of foil that had been burnt to s**t and some opiates and a couple short melted straws. I’m relieved to have my baby back, but it’s been an adventure. He drove my car with 4x4 on, my tires were almost going in two different directions, he had obviously hit something very hard, my hood had been spray painted white, which I need to get repaired now, that’s $5000 alone for a new paint job. And it could have all been prevented had the hotel done what they’re required to do by law and that is to provide a safe environment for their guests. I had called because I was concerenef about a missing key and asked for them to be deactivated. Got told they were out of commission, and that ended up being false and as a result of them failing to comply with my request, I get to wake up to find that a stranger had let himself into my room while I was asleep who knows what he could have done if you think about it and I’m thankful he didn’t slaughter me cause he had every opportunity. And now I’m faced with a over 10 k In property damage because the keys weren’t disabled like I had requested them to be. I decided to talk to the manager snd he dosent seem to car and tells me it’s my fault, for letting the kid in my room. Which is true to an extent, however, I called at 1:58 , which he confirmed himself that he did call and that I in fact had called and everything was valid snd verified, he will awknoledge that part. But fails to see how it’s the hotels fault that a key that wasn’t supposed to work is still somehow managing to work. They didn’t go their part and now I’m paying for it and I’m screwed because some little druggie decides to have a hay day in my vehicle snd it’s all because they failed to protect me and my belonging. The kid should have never went into my room while I’m sound asleep and that’s when I believe it crossed from me letting him in to not caring about your guests. The hotel offers no help and I’m seeing any thing that might help me get this message out there and I really need to find a lawyer that handles premises liability cases and any help or insight would be very helpful and appreciated. I can not pay 11,000 and shouldn’t have to because they can’t do a simple task. I have video footage of him going in and leaving in my jerp and a police report snd also footage of me returning to get the key and the front desk guys little mental breakdown. These guys need to be held accountable and will not awknoledge that their negligence resulted in damages that are outrageous and It could have cost me my life!
I will never stay at the Ramada Hotel again. I slipped and fell in the shower. Called the front desk no one came to see if I was ok. Went to the ER to make sure I didn’t break my right arm from the fall. Did make an incident report but not until I could actually talk to the manager Tuesday and t fell Sunday morning. To this day I have not heard from the hotel and no apology from them whatsoever.
