Turquoise jewelry...it's beautiful, it's unique, and it's a great keepsake from your Southwestern travels.
Many visitors to New Mexico purchase turquoise jewelry, and unfortunately counterfeit Native jewelry has flooded the market, fooling buyers and harming authentic makers. Here is a New Mexico Magazine article (a little long, but very inclusive of history and tips for making purchases).
The top 3 tips included in the article:
1.) Do your research.
2.) Learn the difference between handmade and handcrafted.
3.) Consider buying directly from an artist.

Sunrise breaks over the VLA in the Plains of San Agustin, New Mexico.
DID YOU KNOW?
The Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) is a centimeter-wavelength radio astronomy observatory located in central New Mexico on the Plains of San Agustin, between the towns of Magdalena and Datil, ~50 miles (80 km) west of Socorro.
The VLA is the most versatile, widely-used radio telescope in the world. It can map large-scale structure of gas and molecular clouds and pinpoint ejections of plasma from supermassive black holes.
When travel resumes, this is a great New Mexico tourist spot to put on your travel list. It's a 2 hour drive from Albuquerque and has a walking tour.
Since we are all unable to visit at this time (the VLA is currently closed due to the pandemic), you can learn all about the antennas and get behind-the-scenes peeks into the VLA’s operations from home through the National Radio Astronomy Observatory Very Large Array (NRAO) virtual VLA Explorer! 📡📡📡📡📡📡📡📡

Fill in the blank: When I'm not in the RV, I'm _______.
While our RV Resort is not open, #Route66 travelers can stop and fuel up at the Route 66 Travel Center and grab some food at DQ Grill & Chill.
The Route 66 Travel Center is open 24 hours.
As we continue to follow public health and safety guidelines to help slow the spread of COVID-19, we know many travel plans have been cancelled or put on hold. While travel is not advised or possible at this time, we invite you to explore the wonders of New Mexico from home through these virtual, interactive activities.

We got this image out of our archives and it's a great reminder that there is always hope in trying times, such as when the Empire is coming or when we have to #stayhome to #staysafe but we may be tired of staying home. Hope.♥️

Here's a photo of the Route 66 Casino Hotel General Manager and Carlos, our Route 66 RV Resort Manager participating in the last year's Pueblo of Laguna Earth Day Community Clean-Up event, which our employees have participated in for the past decade. Take a moment today to step outside (please stay in your yard or close to your house) to get some fresh air and rejoice in the beauty of our Earth. 🏡🌻 #EarthDay2020 #StaySafe
