Enjoy slow roasted turkey with cranberry sauce, sliced beef tenderloin with mushroom gravy, chicken picatta with lemon caper sauce, and broiled haddock topped with baby shrimp. Fill your plate with comforting sides, including mashed potatoes, turkey stuffing, candied yams, and green bean casserole, alongside soups, salads, breads, and roasted vegetables.

Save room for dessert, with pumpkin pie, apple crisp, New York cheesecake, and pecan pie rounding out the celebration.

A lot of us can still picture a summer day that felt a little slower, a little wider open, and a little easier to breathe. Up here, the river sets the pace, and the whole place seems to lean into it.

You can feel the tug of boats, docks, and the long view out over the water. Even the streets feel like they belong to folks who know how to live with seasons, visitors, and the kind of weather that can turn on a dime.

It brings back those trips where the destination was half the fun and the road itself did some of the work. I’ve always liked towns that remember they live beside something bigger than themselves.
