Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy is a difficult topic, but understanding it matters. Awareness helps families, caregivers, and people living with epilepsy recognize situations where risk increases and take steps to address them.

These reflect real, measurable risk factors logged by our community every day. By tracking seizures and patterns consistently, people contribute to a clearer picture of risk and help themselves and others take informed action.

The data patients and caregivers log in Seizure Tracker between appointments often never makes it into the room when it matters most. A new study from UCSF set out to change that.

Clinical Researchers built Epilepsy-BRIDGE, a dashboard that pulls Seizure Tracker diary data together with medications, lab results, quality-of-life scores, and epilepsy history, all visible to the clinician during the visit. In a randomized study, clinicians rated it higher than standard practice for efficiency and usability. And patients and caregivers were nearly three times more likely to review their medical information on screen together with their doctor, 73% compared to 25% with standard practice.

This kind of integration is exactly what Seizure Tracker has been working toward through our collaboration with the UC Health system and our participation in the International Seizure Diary Consortium. When patient-collected data can move across platforms and reach clinicians at the right moment, it changes what is possible in epilepsy care.
