Attention City of Oquawka residents!
Just a reminder that City Clean Up day is tomorrow May 9th - all items to be picked up need to be out by 4am tomorrow morning!
Each residence is limited to the equivalent of one pick up truck load of waste plus up to 2 appliances, metal items, and automotive batteries. Anything in excess of this amount or items will not be collected.
The following materials are not allowed to be picked up according to state law and will not be collected:
a. Corrosive materials
b. Explosives Including - ammunition, propane cylinders, and tanks c. Electronic Waste - Televisions, computers, monitors, printers, keyboards, fax machines, cable receivers, satellite receivers, video recorders, etc.
d. Yard Waste - Grass, leaves, brush, tree limbs, etc.
e. Paints/Chemicals- Liquids, oil, pesticides, herbicides, antifreeze etc.
f. Flammables - Gasoline, motor oil, LP tanks, etc.
g. Hazardous Materials - Asbestos, drums, fluorescent light bulbs, medical waste, etc.
h. Tires
Refuse that is placed out for collection must be accessible for pick up. If it is blocked by any vehicles or other obstructions, it will not be collected.
