Great people deserve great recognition! Congrats Robyn!

The Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that our Online Media Manager Robyn Harper has been nominated for a Wisconsin Governor's Tourism award: the Service Excellence Award. This award celebrates an organization or individual that has achieved significant success and tourism growth by providing exceptional service to customers and a strong charitable involvement in the community.

Robyn and her Chamber colleagues will attend the Wisconsin Governor’s Conference on Tourism (WIGCOT), March 15-17, 2026, at the Baird Center in Milwaukee. The conference is one of the nation’s premier state tourism conferences and brings together chambers of commerce, visitor centers, and destination marketing organizations to explore emerging trends, research, and tools that drive local economic impact.

One of my favorite things of owning The Haven is welcoming people who have strong connections to Algoma. The Schoenbergers coming back to visit after moving away is no exception. To my surprise, I walked in after they checked out to a darling gift bag with all kinds of goodies, including a famous Tugs of Love by Sky toy!! Dottie loves her new toy! ❤️ 🐾❤️

Very soon I will welcome this handsome fella - Gus - to The Haven! According to his owners Sarah and Bill, Gus has been to 28 states and 6 Canadian Provinces with them over the last 5 years. He's a seasoned travel professional! Welcome Gus and humans!

Heading down to the festival - such an exciting thing for Algoma! I just had a booking for this fall - the guests are coming to hike the Ice Age Trail. IAT is tourism!!

Phew! You may have seen him around town Saturday - Monty the Mammoth made it to Algoma in time for the Ice Age Trail Designation Celebration taking place tomorrow, Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 11 AM - 2 PM at the Algoma Boat Club, 180 6th St. He hopes to see you there! 🦣
