I found this bit of horse history on the internet. We will skip trying our luck and just use the stirrups!

Ancient Irish horsemen rode without stirrups. A horse was mounted by springing from the ground on to the back of the horse. This mounting method was used up until the seventeenth century in Ireland.

We have no shortage of firewood here at HCHC. Need firewood during your stay here? Let us know in the morning before your ride and we will have a wheelbarrow full waiting for you when you get in! $15 per load.
