Our son keeps threatening to write a book - "When Did We Stop Caring?" It's based on his many encounters with people and companies who simply don't care. We (Mike & Pat) at Whisper Ridge B&B DO care. Starting with personally taking every call for info or reservations, anticipating our guests every need or question, and especially cooking a special breakfast each morning, we care very much that your experience is not simply good, but exceptional! One interesting thing about a traditional B&B is that you're in our house. We live here, and thus you'll run across several of our "collections." We live on Lake Allegan, and years ago I found an old antique outboard motor, and I restored it. Then a 2nd and a 3rd... Not that my wife is without her own: Tiny oil cans, each with it's own distinctive "click" when the bottom is pressed. And each bathroom has an antique pharmaceutical collection. It started with a few bottles and cans from a clean-out of a relative's home and grew from there. The old graphics and descriptions are a piece of history lost to most.
Yes, a B&B is more like home than any other place you could stay!

We're only 2 months from mid-October. In our household, we hold mid-October dates for color drives, seeing the glory of the Autumn leaves changing. Here at Wisper Ridge, we're in the middle of the Allegan Forest, so if you book early, you'll know you'll be at the pivot point where you can venture out and see it all, then return to the charm of a homy Bed and Breakfast. It's a treat not to be denied.

Want to stay somewhere REALLY unique? How about an 1893 railroad caboose? We call her Big Red. Too rustic, you may counter. Ah, but now she has twin half-queen bunks, a full bath, heat and A/C, even WiFi. Read or scroll Facebook up in the cupola with its 360 degree view of our woods and lake view. Many folks do not know that the colors in a sunset are thanks to air pollution. Last week we had some spectacular sunsets over the lake, and I don't know whether to thank or blame the Canadian wildfires for the breathtaking presentations. While we cannot guarantee such a view every night, we do invite our guests to share our deck and the peace of an evening overlooking the lake.
