Thought I’d give y’all the lowdown on Needle Eye Mountain. This year's garden is totally thriving, - early crops of garlic, potatoes, snow peas, carrots, and broccoli, plus summer staples like cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, green beans, and corn. Our chicken flock has grown to a whopping 25, and one hen, Mamacita, is sittin' pretty on some eggs, so we're expecting a brood of baby chicks any day now. Our girls are layin' eggs like crazy, so Scott built me a farmstand down by the road, it's on the honor system - people come, people buy, and the eggs are gone each day! Scott's been busy with all sorts of projects, from mowing the “lawn” to clearing trails to building benches from fallen trees to doin' some serious rock work for better waterways. I caught the sourdough bug, and after many, many tries, I can finally make a decent loaf - it's a miracle! Next big project is the root cellar, nope, I still won’t go in it… but… Scott says it's worth saving… And maybe, just maybe, we'll get some goats! Country life is good for the soul!
