WHAT'S GOING ON WITH GAY DAYS ORLANDO?

The gay media has been reporting that Gay Days Orlando is pausing operations this year, and technically that is correct, but only technically. Gay Days Orlando began in 1992 with a group of gay friends deciding to head to the Magic Kingdom, wearing red shirts to stand out and identify each other. They spread the word via chat rooms (remember those?) and the rest, as they say, is history. That tradition continues, both in Orlando in June and Anaheim in September.

One of the companies that produces parties and events during Gay Days Orlando trademarked that name in the early 2000's. That COMPANY has decided to pause operation for 2026. So while it's true that Gay Days Orlando the COMPANY will not be active this year, Gay Days Orlando the EVENT continues on, with red shirts in the parks and outside events produced by the other Orlando based promoter, One Mighty Weekend. We know, it's confusing. But we wanted to clarify for anyone who might have misunderstood all the recent press.

Gay Days Orlando is a totally seperate event from Gay Days Anaheim, but they are our sister and we do totally support them. As for Gay Days Orlando the COMPANY, it is currently run by lovely people and we are very hopeful that this year's challenges are merely temporary. In the current world landscape, q***r joy and the opportunities to come together and share it are that much more vital and we celebrate all the people who work to create it.
