Wow. That’s all I can say. For those who know, you know. For everyone else—this is our story.

Our family of four finally got an RV, and of course the first thing I did was beg my husband to take us to Homer. We left Palmer in early August, excited and clueless in the best way. We’re not city folk and never have been, so we already knew we wanted a campground outside of town. And because we always travel with our side‑by‑side, that was non‑negotiable.

We searched around Anchor Point for what was probably only an hour, but it felt like several. We ended up paying for a site at a place called the Bumble Bee. Moments later, I went to ask for a fire pit—only to be told they didn’t allow fires. I kindly asked for our money back. I mean… camping without a fire? That’s just not camping.

I told Jim I could’ve sworn I saw a campground just down the road. So we kept looking. I think we drove past what was then Majestic Air at least five times before we finally found the driveway.

What started as one night in site #17 turned into three more nights—first in #21, then the last two in #19. We were having so much fun, so much real family time, that we didn’t care what site we were in. And those sunsets… there aren’t words.

I never realized I posted about it on Facebook all those years ago, but today it popped up as a memory—our very first time in this (now our) park. And it hit me all over again.
