A short note from Chef B~...

Below is a picture of just one of the products I/we Love to make here at Red Chair. I'm not gonna lie, I spent the weekend crying my eyes out about the possibility of not being able to do what I love to do because I'm watching the death of an Alaskan industry, that includes Red Chair. This closure is far-reaching, folks. Maybe many of you haven't thought about our wonderful vendors, our amazing suppliers, our hard-working distributors. I think about our closest neighbors, La Cabana, The White Spot Cafe (an institution in this town) who don't have space to put tables outside. What's to happen to them? I thought well maybe if we start putting names to businesses and start saying them out loud, it'll become more real for folks, and how seriously we're in trouble.

We're open. But my post today is to promote my neighbors. Please call La Cabana (272-0135). Please call the White Spot Cafe (279-3954). I care that they get your business.

On January 30, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) for the current outbreak of coronavirus disease, known as COVID-19.

The safety and wellbeing of all our guests is a top priority at Birch B&B. Given the health and safety risks posed by this virus; we have, therefore, made the difficult decisions to remain closed for the 2020 summer season.

We can recommend our partners, A Golden View B&B, as an alternative option for travel and we will be available to answer any Alaska travel questions you may have through this page.
