Lloyd N. Kennard, age 82, of Carthage, Illinois, and formerly a long-time resident of Anderson, Indiana, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 7th, 2026, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.

He was born in Anderson on September 7th, 1944, to the late Lloyd and Frances Kennard. Lloyd grew up in Anderson and graduated from Anderson High School in 1962, where he was a proud, enthusiastic member of the high school band.

After high school, Lloyd continued his education to master a skilled trade and became a pipefitter journeyman in 1964. That same year, he began a dedicated 35-year career with General Motors, working at the Guide Lamp plant in Anderson until his retirement in 1999. Lloyd loved his work, but he loved the camaraderie even more; he spent decades sharing countless stories and laughing over his coworkers' memorable antics and high spirits.

Lloyd was also a man deeply committed to his community. For many years in Anderson, he volunteered each month at the First United Methodist Church's Helping Hands non-food pantry, ensuring local families had access to essential household and hygiene supplies.

After calling Anderson home for most of his life, Lloyd moved to Carthage, Illinois, seven years ago to live with his daughter. These final years were filled with family comfort, close connection, and cherished daily moments.

Outside of work and volunteering, Lloydโ€™s true happy place was out on the water. An avid fisherman, he loved exploring different lakes, but he was always happiest when he had a boat full of his grandchildren or great-grandchildren. The kids spent countless hours mesmerized by his talent for tying flies, always gathering around their "Grandpa" or "Old Pap" to ask him for more "bugs"โ€”a title and routine he absolutely treasured.

Lloyd is survived by his loving children, daughter Dawn Owren (Chad) (with whom he resided) and son Michael Kennard; his grandchildren, Melinda Klamer, MacKenzie Nichols(Whalen), Mak Kennard (Natasha), Andrew Fleeman (Sarah), and Zachary Kennard (Kai); his great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Klamer, Kennedy Nichols, Adelyn Nichols, Andrew Nichols, Sophie Kennard, Erik Dockins, and Raiden Owren; and his sister, Sheila Mattice (Dan).

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lynn Kennard; his parents; and his cherished grandchildren, Cory and Brittany Smith, and daughter-in-law Denise Kennard

Services will be held Thursday, November 5th, 2026, at 3:00 Graveside, Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery in Anderson, Indiana, when his family can all gather to celebrate his life.

Lloydโ€™s family extends its deepest gratitude to the staff at Memorial Hospital in Carthage; he could not have asked for better or more compassionate care. Martha L. (Elliott) Passwater, 103, of Anderson, passed away at her home on October 7, 2026, following a brief illness.

She was born on May 27, 1923, in New Castle, IN, to the late Rupert and Harriett (White) Elliott. She graduated from Middletown High School. She was the secretary at Chesterfield Christian Church from 1964 to 2004.

She was a member of Chesterfield Christian Church, where she sang in the choir and served on the Martha Circle. She loved playing golf and was a member of both Valley View and Grandview Ladies Golf Leagues. Her golf friends called her โ€œLil Bubba.โ€ She had a hole-in-one at Sunblest Golf Course in Fishers, Indiana, on July 14, 1989. She played golf until she was 100 years old. She has a brick at the PGA Hall of Fame in St. Augustine, FL. She was a member of the Victoria Guild and the Isabel Harter Society. She enjoyed reading, traveling, crocheting, and doing puzzles.

She is survived by her daughter, Ginger (Jim) Alexander of Anderson; a son-in-law, Tom Bale of The Villages, FL; two grandchildren, Janet (Sidney) Newsom of Bradenton, FL and Steve (Julie) Alexander of Yorktown; four great-grandchildren, Pearson (Marquez) Winston of Anderson; Ellie Alexander, Lea Alexander, and Maria Alexander all of Yorktown; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Passwater, in 1995; her daughter, Teresa Sue Bale; a grandson, Tyler Bale; one great-great-grandson, Maxwell Winston; three sisters and a brother.

The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Ned Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to Chesterfield Christian Church.

Gary L. McDonald, 85, of Anderson, passed away on October 9, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born on March 27, 1941, in Anderson to the late Loren and Maxine (Jones) McDonald. He graduated from Anderson High School, class of '59, and then went on to graduate from Purdue University with his bachelor's degree. He worked as a case manager for the Department of Developmental Disability and retired in 2002 after a fulfilling career. Gary married the love of his life, Karen (Stirlen) McDonald, and the two were married for 63 years.

Gary was an avid golfer and fisherman. He loved to cheer on Purdue, the Chicago Bears, and the Chicago Cubs. Gary enjoyed the stock market and watching the rise and fall of it. Most importantly, Gary loved his family and spending time with them.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Karen; his children, Debbie (John) Somerville of Anderson and Laura (Ric) Vega of Whitestown; his four grandchildren, Emily Somerville, Holly Somerville, Anthony Vega, and Grace Vega; his two great-grandchildren, Camden and Maverick; his sister, Marcia (Phil) Estep; two nieces and nephews; and special cousin, John McDonald and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Ricky Vega.

A gathering of friends and family will take place on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Canada officiating. He will be entombed at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery following the funeral. Memorial contributions in Gary's name may be gifted to the charity of your choice.

Linda Sue (Hewitt) Jones, 73, of Anderson, passed away suddenly on October 5, 2026, at the Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. She was born on January 9, 1953, in Shelbyville, Indiana, the daughter of John and Marilyn (Dewitt) Hewitt.

Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Other than being a homemaker, she worked in dispatch for multiple towing companies.

She loved spending time with her family.

Linda is survived by her loving children, Dayna (Robert) Hodge, Bobbie Kay (Mike Roy) Jones, Robert (Kimberly) Jones, Dusty (Ashley King) Jones, Rusty (Crystal Shearer) Jones, and Jonny (Ashley) Jones, Eugina (Matt) Myers, Catha (Felix) Short, Serrena (Wilts) Short, and Darinda (Eddie) Combs; grandchildren, Aryal (Steven) Weisheit, Austin (Ashlee) Hodge, Tre (Kate) Jones, Taylor Jones, Brandon Jones, Chris (Natalie) Jones, Rhyan Jones, Kayleigh (Cody) Jones, Lilly Jones, Mackenzie (Josh) Jones, Angel (Nate) Jones, and Maci Jones; and a host of great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Mary Jo Havens, Eddie (Eva) Hewitt, Tracy Hewitt, and Tony (Stacy) Hewitt, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert E. Jones; brothers, John Hewitt, Terry Hewitt, and Jimmy Hewitt; sister, Janie Ebbert; great-granddaughter, Lyndah Weisheit; life partner, George "Bud" Rinker; brother-in-law, Drew Havens; and sister-in-law, Michelle Hewitt.

Helen L. (nรฉe Smear) Parks Jackson, 95, of Anderson passed away at her daughters home on October 4, 2026 surrounded by her family. Helen was born on December 12, 1930 in Anderson to the late Scott and and Kathryn (Hodson) Smear. After graduating from Anderson High School in 1948, she attended Ball State University before starting one of the toughest jobs of all, being a homemaker. Alongside homemaking, she worked as a realtor for over 20 years. She married her loving husband, Lee Jackson, and they were married for many years until his passing in 2007.

Helen found her spiritual home at Bethany Christian Church and had been a faithful member for many years. She enjoyed bowling and ballroom dancing. She served as past secretary of Rangeline Community Center and was a past member of the Elks. Helen enjoyed socializing, especially going out to eat with her friends and family. A member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), Helen enjoyed spending time with her many friends there.

Left to cherish her members is her daughter, Debra (Richard) Hiles; grandchildren, Jesse (Bonna Nichol) Looper, Melissa (Ron) Weaver, Jamie (Paul) Halstead, and Jessica Hiles; great-grandchildren, Grant Looper, Emily Looper, Lillianna Porter, Rylan (Savannah) Halstead, Jaylen (Grace) Halstead, Eathan Halstead, Addison (Isaiah) Emberts, Brooklyn Halstead, Lincoln Halstead, Greyson Halstead, Jaxton Hiles, Destiny (Noah) Porter, Elayna Weaver, and Colton Weaver; and great-great-grandchildren, Devon, Maxton, and Merrick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sons, Douglas Parks and Timothy Parks; her grandson, Richie Hiles; her great-grandson, Rayghn Hiles; and her sister, Betty (Glen) Powers.

Friends and family will gather on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Chris Bell will be officiating. She was born on October 11, 1933, in Anderson, IN, to Clifford and Madalene (Cunningham) Clevenger. She worked 30 years at Guide Lamp in production. She enjoyed fishing in Wisconsin and going on trips. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Candy Breedlove of Anderson; her grandchildren, Wesley Bender, Kera (William) Humphries, Heather Reger, and Misty (Eric) Pierce; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Haylee Webb, Xavier Humphries, Hannah (Trey) Gilliespie, Hunter (Natalie) Gillespie, and Clayton Pierce; great-great-grandchildren, Greyson and Corey Carter, Lynnleigh Edens, and Colton Pierce; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Bender; a son, Jeffery Bender; a sister, Mary Scharnowske; a brother, Eugene Clevenger; and many other siblings.

The funeral service will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service. The burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan D. Murphy, who left us on October 4, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on March 12, 1959, in Anderson, Indiana, Susan was the beloved daughter of Harry S. and Phyllis (Lemond) Murphy. She grew up in Anderson and was a proud graduate of Madison Heights High School and Indiana University.

For many years, Susan worked as an investigator for General Motors and Eli Lilly, where she used her keen mind and attention to detail to make a difference. Beyond her career, she had a passion for life that was contagious-whether it was boating on a sunny day, getting her hands dirty in the garden, or showcasing her creative talents through crafts. Susan was known for her great sense of humor and her knack for cooking delicious meals that always brought people together. Susan was also an animal advocate, especially for beagles. She dearly loved her beagles, George and Gracie.

Halloween was special for Susan, and she loved playing pranks that kept everyone on their toes. Family meant the world to her, and she cherished every moment with her brother, Dan "Carol" Murphy of Alexandria; her nephew, Bryan Murphy of Fortville; her niece, Samantha Murphy of Portland, Maine; her cousin, Linda Watson of Daleville; and numerous other relatives.

Susan's spirit and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In light of this, the public may pay their respects during a viewing on October 7, 2026, starting at 12:00 PM at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 E. 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM on the same day with Pastor Ned Clark officiating. Susan will then be laid to rest at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
