Salamonie Lake Open House Celebrates Accessible Features, June 27
Visit Salamonie Lake’s interpretive center June 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. for an open house and chance to meet Indiana Conservation Officers, Indiana State Police, and other Fire and Rescue personnel. Children will be offered a Touch-a-Truck type experience to discover the tools these professionals use at Salamonie Lake and in our communities.
The event begins with a ribbon cutting for a newly complete accessible family restroom. This accessible feature, unique in Indiana State Parks, was donated by the Steve Berry family in honor of his late wife Elaine Berry. Mrs. Berry was a teacher in Marion, Indiana that thrived on building experiences to help every student grow. She loved bringing her classes to “West Lost Bridge” to experience the wonder of the natural world.
Visitors to the event will also see a new motorized track chair that can provide access to multiple areas in Salamonie Lake’s Lost Bridge West for those that need accessibility assistance and other accessible features of the facility and enjoy berry sweet treats.
