Mantle Rock Mountain Camp will be open for HipCamp bookings starting May 15th this year. We have three primitive campsites with picnic tables available, a restroom and potable water. Come enjoy the high alpine splendor of the Moreno Valley, Angel Fire and Black Lake, New Mexico. Visit Angel Fire Bike Park–one of the top 5 mountain bike parks in the United States. Whitewater the Rio Grande Gorge near Taos. Take alpine horseback rides, fly fish our award-winning angler streams, hike Wheeler Peak, the highest peak in New Mexico at over 13,000 feet. Visit Great Sand Dunes National Park, hike Rio Grande del Norte National Monument into the Rio Grande Gorge, sit in hot springs, photograph a herd of more than 500 Elk, and much, much more. We are very excited to announce we have launched our Northern New Mexico Ultra+ Expedition! The trip itinerary includes 9 days and 8 nights of adventure. Four nights will be in boutique hotels and four nights will be camping. This is a BYOV (bring your own vehicle) expedition. Heather and I enjoyed hosting three young gents from Texas A&M who camped here at Mantle Rock Mountain Camp last night. Heather was an amazing host and invited them in for waffles and coffee this morning (not your typical campground). All in their early 20's and graduating or just graduated just like my boy Collin who graduates in the next 6 to 8 months. One, a classical music major, one a sound engineer, and the other both an IT major but following his faith to elevate through his church. This is precisely why I created Mantle Rock. To connect with people. To inspire and be inspired. And yes, I am on my tip toes to not be the shortest tree in the grove. Big boys! It's just cuz I don't have shoes on... I swear. 🙂

Enjoy a few days in the mountains of Northern New Mexico here at Mantle Rock Mountain Camp. Guests are enjoying the peace and quiet, the green meadows and wild flowers, and the variety of birds and wildlife. Our sites can accommodate tents, overland vehicles, 24 foot and less RVs and smaller pull-behind bumper tows. Book now on HIPCAMP. Mantle Rock Mountain Camp sits at over 8,600 feet in elevation near Black Lake, New Mexico just south of Angel Fire, New Mexico. The camp is located within the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. The range is a part of the southern Rocky Mountains with peaks as tall as 13,156 feet. In fact, peaks over 11,000 feet surround the entire valley. There are numerous fly fishing streams, boat rentals and paddle water craft on two nearby lakes, many vinyards and tasting rooms, several breweries, and mountain biking and hiking galore. Our camp is surrounded by more than 40,000 acres of wilderness. Just over the mountain to our east is the world-famous Philmot Scout Ranch at over 140,000 acres which is the largest camp in the world owned by Boy Scouts of America.
