Not everything happens during the daylight hours in Angel Fire. We went on a very nice snow shoe hike on the ridge behind Allouette 9305. You can see the village and a small dash of sunset in the distance. Joyce posing on the ridge! A warm welcome sight on the way back.

This big guy walked by during the morning hot tub! Yesterday I went fly fishing in Cimarron Canyon and caught this nice rainbow. I always stop in at Dos Amigos Anglers in Eagle Nest where Wayne gives some great tips!

Here are some more pics of our hike to Lobo Peak(see earlier post). The aspens were just starting to change! There was a nice fast moving stream so we could replenish our water using Aquatabs tablets. After the hike we did a treat of green chili cheeseburgers at Blakes Lotaburger in Taos.

For the win! In June Joyce and I failed to summit Lobo Peak a few hundred vertical feet of the top due to thigh-deep snow. Today we went back and made it to the top. 3750 feet of climbing in 4 miles and the total trip took 8.5 hours. The 360 degree view was really amazing. You could see Baldy Mtn at Philmont, Taos ski resort, mountains around Los Alamos, and far into Colorado.

We went in a hike to Middle Fork Lake near Red River. The hike was about 2.5 miles in and up 1200 feet. Near the parking lot we found some wild strawberries that were excellent! Due to the rainy weather, we were able to find a bunch of wild porcini mushrooms as well! We are drying some, freezing some and making Jaeger Schnitzel for dinner( fried pork with wild mushroom sauce)!

We’ve had a very busy time In Angel Fire these past 10 days! The golf course is in amazing shape! I also have had some great luck fly fishing the Cimarron Canyon. One day caught well over 10 trout in 1.5 hours. There was a blue winged olive hatch going on and the fish we taking dry flies! We also attempted a hike to Lobo Prak via Manzanita Canyon. It was a great hike but ran into some very big snow fields in woods right before going above treeline. We were not able to navigate around the snow field so we turned back about 200 vertical feet from the summit ridge. Here are some pictures from the hike.
