Babcock House Bed and Breakfast Inn

Babcock House Bed and Breakfast Inn Historic charm. Shared tables. Glad and generous hospitality. At Babcock House, we welcome you not just as guests — but as friends.

My husband and I own and operate a bed & breakfast in central Viriginia, specializing in farm-to-table cuisine with food from our on-site garden and local suppliers. We have two boys, one dog and several chickens, hoping to soon be raising rabbits and bees as well. I enjoy fiber arts...knitting, crochet and most recently spinning... as well as being active in our church and small community. When I

'm not hosting guests, I am busy homeschooling or helping Charles in the garden and trying to keep our house in order. Hospitality has always been a joy for me and I consider it a blessing to share with others.

After a day exploring downtown Appomattox, this is a pretty nice place to come back to.

Meet the Bradley Suite. 🛏️

With its four-poster bed, antique furnishings, and plenty of room to settle in, it's a little different from our standard guest rooms. The suite includes a separate sitting room, making it especially nice if you like having somewhere to relax that isn't the bed.

Read a book. Enjoy a glass of w**e. Catch up on your favorite show. Or, honestly, just put your feet up and do nothing at all.

And in the morning? Come downstairs for breakfast. ❤️

Would you rather spend your evening in the cozy bedroom or the sitting room?

We took another walk downtown this morning—and found even more reasons to love Appomattox.

This time we stopped into Moore Than Expected General Store, where there was a little vendor faire happening with all sorts of local goodies, including home goods and locally raised meats.

And then there was live music at The Art Gallery of New Geneva at New Geneva. 🎶

One of our favorite things about being innkeepers is getting to watch our little town grow and discover new places right alongside our guests.

So after breakfast, put on your walking shoes and wander downtown. You never know what you'll find.

Shop local. Eat local. Listen local. Stay local. ❤️

Breakfast this morning may have been a little overwhelming. 😂

Our guest took one look at the plate and realized just how much of it was made right here:

🥓 House-cured bacon
🥚 Eggs from our chickens
🥔 Fried potatoes from our garden
🫐 Homemade jam

At one point he looked at me and asked, "You didn't grow the coffee, did you?"

Well... not quite. 😂

I do have a baby coffee tree, though. So give me a few years.

For now, we'll keep buying the coffee while we work on the rest. ☕️

Not every night calls for a full dinner. Sometimes, a cheese board is exactly what you need. 🧀🍷

On the nights our dining room is closed, guests can still enjoy a little something from our kitchen with a cheese board—perfect for a light meal for one or an easy snack to share between two.

A few good cheeses, some accompaniments, maybe add a bottle of w**e, and nowhere you need to be.

That's a pretty good way to spend an evening at the inn.

Today was a day of preparation for Feast in the Forest at Wolfbane Productions tomorrow night. Tarts are baked and bread is rising. This is always one of the most fun events of the year, followed by Wolfswood Faire on Saturday and the announcement of next year's season lineup.

Just minutes from the inn, it's a great chance to escape your modern worries and step back in time. We hope to see you there. Family, forest, freedom!

One of our favorite ways to spend a morning in Appomattox? A walk downtown after breakfast. ☕📚

This morning we wandered down to Baine's Books and Coffee —a beautiful little bookshop with great coffee, plenty to browse, and local pottery from .

It's exactly the kind of place we love having in our town: locally owned, thoughtfully curated, and full of things you won't find at a big-box store.

So if you're staying with us, don't be afraid to wander a little after breakfast. Grab a coffee, find a new book, bring home something handmade, and get to know the people who make Appomattox special.

Shop local. Sip local. Read local. ❤️

Tonight's dinner began with homemade pasta puttanesca for three very special guests. 🍝

These ladies are staying with us through A Mother's Rest Charitable Respite Foundation , an organization that provides respite opportunities for mothers of children with special needs.

A little time away. A beautiful table. A meal made from scratch. Good conversation and, hopefully, a chance to simply breathe.

We are honored to be a small part of their time together—and tonight, we're starting with pasta. ❤️

There's something about a breakfast table waiting for you in the morning. ☕️

The coffee is ready. The table is set. And for a little while, there's nowhere you need to be.

That's one of our favorite parts of being an inn—getting everything ready before our guests come downstairs and knowing that the day is about to begin around this table.

Stay awhile. Leave refreshed.

After a slow start, the garden is finally giving us something to celebrate! 🌱

We've been watching, watering, weeding, and waiting—and this week we finally brought in more than just a little harvest.

There's something especially satisfying about walking out to the garden and coming back with vegetables that will soon find their way onto our breakfast table.

The garden doesn't always cooperate with our plans (and some years are definitely better than others!), but that's part of the fun of growing your own food.

Here's to finally getting some things out of the garden and onto the table. 🥕🍅🌿
