US 51 Closure & Detour:
Closed this spring (starting April 2026) through Memorial Day.

From US 8 to the Bearskin Bridge near County L will be closed
Detour: US 8 and WIS 47 through Rhinelander

🚧 US 51 Construction Updates – What to Expect This Spring & Summer 🚧
Heads up, travelers! Multiple construction projects will impact US 51 this season.
🚧 Minocqua Bridge to Front Street Project (Downtown Minocqua): March 30th through November 2026. Effective June 18th, 2026, all traffic lanes will be opened up and any remaining work will be postponed until September 8th, 2026. All travel lanes will be opened up for Memorial Weekend (from Noon on Friday to 6:00 A.M. on Tuesday). https://www.townofminocqua.org/2026-concrete-repair-project/
📍 US 51 from Lake Minocqua Bridge to Front Street
Work includes concrete repairs, curb, gutter & drainage improvements & ADA curb ramp upgrades.
🚦 Traffic Impacts: At least one lane will remain open in each direction. Access to businesses will remain open, but expect lane shifts, parking impacts, and temporary pedestrian route changes

The lake opened last week, and the loons are already back—right on cue, even as snow falls this morning. But with temps climbing to 60 by the weekend, we’ll take it as a good sign that spring is finally settling in!

We’ll be turning the water on this week, and everything will be up and running for the weekend. Can’t wait to see everyone back and enjoying the start of the season!

Town road weight limits are still in effect. The town has announced they’ll be lifted at 6am on Monday, April 28th,
