Long before he ever picked up a stethoscope, William Tadlock was showing livestock through 4H and FFA in Spring Branch, Texas. That early hands on experience with animals is what pointed him toward veterinary medicine well before he ever reached college.

He earned his bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Stephen F. Austin State University, then his veterinary degree from Lincoln Memorial University. His practice today spans surgery, reproduction, and preventative care, and he still makes time for cattle pregnancy checks whenever his schedule allows. At home, he and his wife share their place with three dogs, three horses, and a shared love of the outdoors and the agriculture that shaped his path into this field.

Two ultrasounds, two months apart, tell a very different story about tendon healing.

Our case study follows a calcanean tendon lesion in the right hind limb, showing imaging from the time of implantation through the two month recheck after AlphaFlo® was used to support the injured tissue. Tendon injuries like this one are notoriously slow to heal on their own, which is part of why veterinarians are looking at canine amniotic tissue allografts as an additional tool alongside rest, rehab, and surgical repair. This is one documented case, not a guarantee of how every tendon injury will respond, but it is a useful reference if you are managing something similar.

When a dog tears its cranial cruciate ligament, Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) is one of the most common surgical repairs veterinarians turn to, but recovery time and comfort during healing can vary widely from patient to patient.

In a case series, Mark Besancon, DVM followed 14 client owned dogs undergoing TPLO surgery for naturally occurring cranial cruciate ligament rupture. Seven of the 14 dogs received 1.0 cc of AlphaFlo®, a canine amniotic tissue allograft, delivered intra articularly after the arthrotomy was closed, at the veterinarian's discretion. The other seven did not receive AlphaFlo®.

Dr. Besancon reported that the dogs who received AlphaFlo® returned to using the leg in an average of 2 days, compared to 19 days for the dogs who did not. The AlphaFlo® group also showed improved soft tissue healing, reduced swelling, and radiographic changes noted sooner.
