Hi all - we're trying to collect as many images from our friends and guests of the farm to share on social media (and save for posterity's sake). Have you visited? Do you have photos to share? Please send them any way you wish to [email protected] . - Jenn

Don Previtali purchased the 125-acres that is now Lant Hill Farm in 1972. Don was attracted to the area ever since he was a child coming to visit his great-uncle's dairy farm in Hartford. He specifically chose this land because there had never been any chemical fertilizers or pesticides used here. You could say Don was ahead of his time in the area with organic and biodynamic agricultural practices. This approach to farming was handed down from his mother who studied Rudolph Steiner's anthroposophical teachings. Over the years Don has become an incredible "soil builder" and has maintained this "clean land".
The property has been farmed since the 1800s. The original family to work the land and live on the hill was the family of James Lant. To pay homage to the first farmers to live here we have kept their name alive in our farm's namesake.
Along with the farm keeping him busy, Don was a farrier shoeing Upstate NY and Vermont's horses for nearly 35 years. Don also drove a school bus for Argyle Central School for 30 years. If your parents grew up in Argyle there is a good chance they rode on his bus at some point.
The first photo above is of Don at 30 years old (1977). This photo hung in the Easton Town Hall for over a decade. The second is a recent photo of Don in his 1987 John Deere 2950, since he is over 70 now we figured he could have a tractor with a cab.
