Good morning
I felt led to give an update on the go fund me effort and conclusion. In total 1100 bucks was added to the kitty for the hopeful purchase of a brusher and the blanket of expenses for a machine to power a brusher attachment.
Obviously way short of the funds needed to purchase even the attachment let alone rental for a machine and the cost of fuel to operate.
Needless to say in spite of the short fall of funds we were able to get a working brusher and a machine to run it. The brusher was rehabilitated. The machine was donated along with the expenses to operate and the man hours as well.
Some of the trails in dire need of brushing were taken care of. Which amounted to maybe a fifth of the system which means there's a whole lot more that needs brushing and then there's the immediate future of the next aggressive growing spurt fron may thru August each and every year.
Maintenance of any trail system is never ending. Volunteers, hands on Volunteers are desperately needed to carry out trail maintenance anytime of the year. Trees die and tip over. Wind storms happen. Mother nature continues to grow each day closing in the open areas as each species fights to fill the empty space.
If you use the trails or recognize the benefits of having a trail system to utilize then cone volunteer for a afternoon or day. Bring gloves and other protective gear, a few hand tools like a nippers for loping small limbs, just a willingness to pick up brush that's been cut down and up off the trail or a chainsaw or pole saw to cut bigger debris and overhead limbs.
There's so much that needs to be done. The regular dependable volunteers that have dedicated their free time for the past 35 years are retired or unable to or have gone on to greener pasture.
The Castle rock horse trails depends on volunteers, as well as financial support not just once but a steady flow of funds to help the few volunteers to fund all the efforts.
Please help in anyway possible. Yes this is a labor of love. We desperately need you to do your part especially those who utilize the system. Thank you to all the volunteers who have gotten the trail system this far. Thank you to all who will step up and make certain these trails are maintained well into the future.
This partnership between trail user groups and private corporate land owners is very unique. But could be completely lost due to lack of dedication. Let's not let that happen.
As far as the campground goes, in today's world every other pick up is pulling a trailer with a atv/utv aboard. Compared to pickups pulling horse trailers no competition. There's many other user groups that could fill the void.
Since the infancy of this system myself has been fully dedicated. I'm past retirement age. I remain dedicated today. No one knows tomorrow.
Step up show up
This is a cry for help. Help or step aside and let two legacies disappear only for history to recall

Good morning
The go fund me has generated over 600.00 towards a drum brusher attachment. These pieces of equipment are in the 5000.00 range so we are just getting started. The Castle Rock Horse Trails are in need of widening in approximately 50% of the system. This is an ongoing need as mother nature competes to fill in the void that any openings offer. Please help with any donation whatsoever. If you have the physical ability hand work on the system is also greatly needed. These are your trails. If you use them do everything you can to keep this trail system open and for it's intended use.
Volunteers are the backbone of this unique opportunity and the volunteers who have dedicated their time and efforts over the past 35 years are after retirement age and won't be able to fulfill the needs of maintaining the trails forever. It's time for younger users to step up and take the reinstall. Thank you for reading

Annual trail work day. Spring of 26 April 4th.
Weather 33` misty morning after 3 in of rainfall. Following a rain event of 2 in only one day prior. Damp conditions only briefly hindered the zeal of these amazing volunteers who dedicate their precious time so that you can enjoy the miles of Trails.
Diehards Andy Buttner, Rocky Lawrence, Steve Plantz Richard Locey Tina weigel and Mike Harris. 3 two person crews cleaned and opened the 25 miles of Trails this day. Hours of physical hands on labor. Left camp at 9. Returned by 4. This year was the worst ever.

Please thank these volunteers. If it weren't for their continued support and dedication your castle rock horse trails would not be usable/passable.

If you are able to support the trail system financially we have a gofundme account on this page and we are hoping to purchase a drum mulcher attachment to aid in the Neverending process of widening Trails. The overhead stuff is best cleared by hand. If you cannot support financially we need many volunteers to get the hand work done that is needed so badly.
Our diehards are aging and will step down soon opening the door to others to step up and show up. Every trail work day is satisfying because of the accomplishment of our efforts. Knowing that there's quality maintenance happening several times a year.
We've suggested this before and will again. If your club or group would like to adopt a section of trail to maintain and improve we would appreciate that so much. If a half dozen groups would commit every single trail user could benefit.
These castle rock horse trails are open year round. Require no annual passes and are funded and maintained by donations only and volunteers only. Please consider what is your part in keeping these trails open for years to come. Only you can ensure the future of this unique fixture that is nearing dilemma if people don't step up now.
