Hi to all our Happy Campers: We have very mixed feelings about the sale of our precious campground. Personal circumstances dictated our decision to sell. We have no idea of what and where we will settle down but know it will be in New England. The two of us have made so many friends and have very fond memories of all of our campers.
The new owners are Modern America Campgrounds that already own a bunch of very successful campgrounds in the New England region. We wish them well and wish all of you many happy camping days.
You will all remain in our thoughts:
Shelley-Ann & Alan

Kindness needs no introduction. Just be kind is a language all of it's own, so lets just be kind all the time and make it a way of life rather than something we do every now and then.

Opening Day!
Camping On The Battenkill was started up in 1958 by the Pratt family, and changed ownership in 2017, and again to the current owners in 2019. It shares some history with the surrounding areas. When Norman Rockwell who was born in New York City and had been living in New Rochelle, finally got the chance to live in an authentic American small town, the one he chose was Arlington, Vermont, right in the heart of the Shires. He remained for 14 years, using local people as models for some of his most famous paintings. It was at the annual Town Meeting in 1942 that Rockwell conceived the idea for his “Four Freedoms” series. At the meeting he heard a fellow citizen express an unpopular view. “Freedom of Speech” was followed by “Freedom from Fear.” “Freedom from Want”, and “Freedom of Religion.”
Rockwell’s studio still stands not far from the iconic 1852 West Arlington covered bridge. The Battenkill, famous for trout, flows nearby and it’s a great spot for picnicking and a summer dip (or launch a tube). Right in town the Arlington Inn still stands to this day.
