Attention all fisherman: Great news!!

The Game Fish and Parks Commission has recently removed the 15 inch size restriction for walleye on Lake Poinsett. The length limit will go into effect on January 1, 2018!

The hunting has also been pretty good!

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) has completed the annual pheasant brood survey and the results show a 42 percent increase in the statewide pheasants-per-mile (PPM) index from 2014. The Pierre Area is up 45 percent. The GFP contributed this to favorable winter and spring conditions for two consecutive years. South Dakota's traditional statewide pheasant hunting season opens on Saturday, October 17, 2015, and runs through January 3, 2016
