The Stones Rising Giveaway. (link) Our most cherished event, open to all, with no charge for registration, camping or meals. It is now one of our guiding principles-to keep Stones Rising as a free Spiritual Experience for all Pilgrims in Good Faith for as long as we can possibly sustain it.

Why? Why would we do such a thing?

Because we are grateful to all of you. For your support these past thirty-two years, grateful for your participation, enthusiasm, support, and community effort. By the focused efforts of many many people over many many years, nearly 70 Megaliths now crown our beautiful Pennsylvania Hill.

In beauty, truth, and valor, you have broken our hearts in strange and unexpected ways, and we find that what is spilling out is gratitude,for all that we have, for once, not so long ago, we did not have anything, and we remember.

So thank you. We hope you can join us, receive the gift in the spirit in which it is intended, stand in Witness, pull on a rope, bear a torch, or find your own unique path in this living, breathing, pulsing, pounding Social Experiment.

Once upon a time at Four Quarters, we were desperately poor. We were often cold. We were sometimes hungry. Conversation, and a cup of coffee was all we had to share.

But times change, and the lean years passed. And, somehow, against nearly impossible odds, we survived. Still here on the Land. Still Raising Stones.

Now we have enough to share. Many, many times over. So much that we are truly humbled.

Material wealth, above and beyond what is needed and a little extra for a rainy day, has never been our goal. Our goal is to share what we have, with open hands.

We began sharing slowly as we could afford it. First, a supper at every Moon Service, provided by the Church, prepared by members, shared by one and all. Sure, in the beginning, we ate an awful lot of spaghetti, but we ate.

And we were grateful.

Eventually, we were able to subsidize meals, and included food with the price of registration for Beltaine, Chalice and the Blade, Stones Rising,and Samhain.

And we were grateful.

Then came the granddaddy of all ideas. Turn Stones Rising into a Giveaway. Make camping, registration, and all meals absolutely free to everyone. Change the World in a small way. Do everything in our limited power to assure that financial limitations do not prevent anyone from attending Stones Rising.

And we are grateful.

Grateful for all of the people who have come to the Land, and brought all their diverse and strange magic, to the children, to the music festival “kids,” to the Elders, the Teachers, the Grandmothers, Grandfathers, Aunties, Uncles…to everyone who have joined in this common purpose, and made this gift possible.

The gift is offered.
The door is open.

“I’m Mean, and So Is Wizard!"

It’s mid-August. And it’s hot, and humid. My heart (and my hot flashes!) longs for the cool temperatures, and bright blue skies of October.

And I think I better get you prepared for the October Moon Service Weekend early-it might shock or upset some of you who might be feeling…delicate.

The October Moon Service is a whole different kettle of fish.

It's about re-establishing HUMAN connection in an increasingly inhuman world.

It’s about stepping away from technology, and being with one another.

And a buncha flowery language that I am going to spare you.

How, exactly, are we going to do all this connecting in such a short time?

We are going to take away your technology at the door.

Yup. That’s what I said.

Unless it is life-sustaining gear, like a c-pap, or blood glucose monitor, you check in everything you brought with you that has an “on/off” switch!

(Yes, we really ARE that mean.)

In place of phones, we will have a campfire with marshmallows and weenies on a stick, and s’mores, while we tell ghost stories, and sing camp songs…

We will spend time out on the Land, together, and alone. Grounding and re-connecting.

And a very special ceremony Saturday, examining the delicacy and strength of our interconnected-ness.

It might be hard to believe, but you can live for a weekend without your phone/laptop/tablet…

Give it a whirl.

You just might like the “unplugged” version of your life.

God made dirt, and dirt don’t hurt.”

If you come to Stones Rising you are going to meet a very special acquaintance: Dirt.

Dirt is good. I worship the stuff.
But, like most other adults, I seem to spend a lot of my time distancing myself from Dirt. You know, making things clean, washing, scrubbing, sucking the floor…

But, at Stones, I make an exception.
If it rains, I will always jump in a mud puddle.
I may start out Rising Day looking nice, but by noon, I have dirt somewhere on me, and I probably have sticks or something in my hair, too. I’m good with that.

There are plenty of sinks where I can wash my hands.
One of my friends would probably pick the forest debris out of my hair, again.
But I keep the sticks in my hair, streaks of dirt on my face, feet a grubby mess.
My momma did, indeed, raise me better.

But dirt is the magic potion that binds us all together.
Dirt is the cells of the Land.
The Land is at the Heart of Stones Rising.
The Land is the Foundation upon which all else is built.
So, yeah.
There can be detergent on Tuesday.
For Rising Day, let me be adorned in my finest glory:
Dirt.

The Draft Schedule for the Stones Rising Giveaway is now available online. There's a lot planned, and plenty for people to do! Ceremonies, Pathways of Service, Meditations, Fire & Bardic Circles, Sweat Lodges and of course working with and Raising Stones! We’re still fine tuning the details, and we'll keep it updated as the event approaches. As always, the Stones have the last word!

All Ceremonies and activities are subject to change, subject to the realities of moving Stone, the Whims of Mother Nature, or unforeseeable circumstances.

One of the best ways to have a great weekend at Stones Rising is to come prepared. The mountain has everything you need for a memorable gathering, but bringing the right gear will help you stay comfortable and make the most of every workshop and evening around the fire.

Here's our recommended packing list:

* Tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad
* Camp chair
* Flashlight or headlamp
* Clothing for changing mountain weather
* Toiletries and any personal medications
* Cooking gear and a cooler if you plan to prepare your own meals
* Plenty of drinking water or a refillable water container
* A reusable coffee mug and water bottle (we will not have disposable water bottles for sale)
* Reusable shopping bags for vendors and supplies
* Work gloves for hands on projects around the gathering
* A multi tool or pocket knife
* A basic first aid kit
* Biodegradable soap
* Trash bags to help us pack it in and pack it out
* Cash for Coffee Dragons and shower tokens
* A towel and eco friendly sunscreen if you plan to enjoy the water

A little preparation goes a long way. We look forward to spending a weekend together learning new skills, sharing stories, building community, and caring for this beautiful place. See you on the mountain.

Lammas. The first Sabbat of the Harvest. The Fall of the God of the Swaying Grains. The gathering in of the folk. The sharing of the Lammas Loaf. The breaking of bread, brother with brother, sister with sister, friend with friend, and the willing setting aside of differences. All these things are part of the traditions of Lammas.

Join us for a Very Special Moon Service Weekend as we gather to celebrate Harvest Home.

Featuring the High Wiccan Lammas Rite, a church supper, free for any and all, classes, activities, singing, and fellowship.

Activities Friday evening begin at 7 pm.

Activities Saturday begin at 9 am, and continue into late-night.

Stones Rising
“Altars Shining Everywhere”

Saturday evening of Stones Rising is going to be something truly special.

Teams and individual spiritual visionaries have spent the past year conceiving and creating large, and often, interactive altars, which will be spread across the landscape of Four Quarters, highlighting the many Sacred Sites upon the Land.

We will walk, or ride, in three groups, with gentle and experienced guides, who will also regale us with facts, and some of the histories: natural and supernatural of Four Quarters.

It has been many years since we have had a large-scale altar walk, I think you will be dazzled by what these brothers and sisters have dreamed up for us!

Approaching the Goddess in Truth and Deed

The Goddess is the magnetic, compelling, and seductive force that drew many of us to Wicca. Our shared voyages of discovery of the Divine Feminine will form the warp and weft of Chalice and the Blade 2027.

In 2026, we explored the many aspects of balanced male divinity at Chalice and the Blade, and much was shared, much was learned, and much, much more was celebrated.

In keeping with our gender-balanced focus on Traditional Wicca, in 2027, we will be exploring an in-depth focus on the Goddess-her lore, her mysteries, her history, and her siren song that drew so many of us away from the Churches and synagogues we were indoctrinated in as children, and onto sun-dappled paths twisting beneath spreading branches.
