The NC Apple Festival takes over downtown Hendersonville this weekend, September 4 through 7 — four days of King Apple Parade, street vendors, and fried pies about 30 minutes south of us. 🍏

Henderson County grows most of North Carolina's apples, so this is the real thing, not a themed pop-up. One heads-up: organizers ask you to leave pets at home for this one. Come back to the suite with a bushel and a full kitchen to bake it into something delicious!

Fall might be the best season to have a dog in Asheville. 🐶

The French Broad River Greenway is minutes from the door, the heat has finally broken, and half the RAD patios will set down a water bowl before you ask. Our pet-friendly suites are all on the first floor with direct outdoor access — so the morning walk is a straight shot out the door, no lobby, no stairs.

There are a limited number, so mention your pup when you book and we'll put you in the right one. What's your dog's perfect trail day? 🐾

The River Arts District Farmers Market runs every Wednesday, 3 to 6 p.m., in the New Belgium lot on Craven Street.

That's the same street as River Row — a two-minute walk from the suites. After Helene flooded its old riverside home, the market relocated here, and it's back to 30-plus growers a week through the end of October.

Fall is when it gets good: apples, cut dahlias, honey, eggs, whatever came out of the ground that morning. Fill a bag, walk it home, and put your suite's full kitchen to work. We mapped the whole harvest season — orchards, corn mazes, u-pick flowers — on our blog, The Row Report.

Fall break in Asheville, minus the hotel headache. 🍂

A full kitchen means breakfast before everyone's dressed and leftovers after a long day out. Apple season runs September into October, and the Hendersonville orchards sit about 30 minutes south — pick a bushel, head back, and the suite kitchen handles the pie. Here's the case for working out of the RAD instead of a hotel by the highway.

Gov't Mule brings Warren Haynes back to his hometown on September 25, with Ziggy Marley on the bill at Hellbender by The Orange Peel.

One thing to note: Hellbender sits along the Swannanoa River near Biltmore Village, not in the RAD — figure 15 to 20 minutes by car, and parking there is paid. Or, skip parking altogether by taking a ride-share. 🚘

From River Row it's an easy night out, at one of Asheville's most exciting new venues.

In February, USA TODAY named the River Arts District the number one arts district in the country. 🥇

Five hundred–plus working artists, a little over a year after Helene put much of the neighborhood underwater. That's not a tagline — it's what's outside our door.

Real RAD news: Molten Made opens this fall on Foundy Street — Asheville's first fine art foundry. Sculptors Julie Slattery and Paul Watson are building a working metal-casting space, with a gallery and public workshops once the doors open.

For years, local sculptors had to ship their work out of town just to get it cast. Not anymore. It's a short walk from the suite, and we'll be first in line to watch bronze turn into something.

Thinking about Asheville in the Fall?

Fall is Asheville's busiest stretch of the year, and October weekends book up fast. 🍁

Leaf color peaks around mid-October, the patios stay open later than you'd think, and the River Arts District keeps its own rhythm no matter how many people are in town.

A studio with a full kitchen runs about what a standard hotel room costs downtown — plus free parking, which most downtown hotels will still charge you for. This is the trip to lock in early.
