✨Time Travel Tuesday✨
After Bon Marché's long run as one of Asheville's premier department stores, the building entered a new chapter in 1937 when Ivey's Department Store took over the corner of Haywood Street and Battery Park Avenue. A fixture of downtown commercial life through the mid-20th century, Ivey's welcomed generations of shoppers through its doors until closing in 1976.
Today, the same building stands as Haywood Park Hotel, carrying forward a tradition of hospitality in a space that has been welcoming people for more than a century. While the mannequins, clothing racks, and department store counters are long gone, the grand architecture and sense of occasion remain. It's one more chapter in the story behind our motto: A History of Luxury.
