Urgently Hiring! Must be 16 years or older and must have up-to-date lifeguard, first aid, and CPR certifications. This is a weekends and summer Holidays only position. Must have the self motivation and personal responsibility to work all shifts scheduled or find a substitute to cover shift.
We are in need of hosts to finish out the 2021 Camping Season! Hosts are responsible for making sure the campers on your loop are happy and following campground rules and guidelines. Duties may include gatehouse shifts, retail, site clean up, light maintenance, etc.
A REOPEN DATE HAS NOT BEEN SET. But we are in need of hosts once we reopen. Responsible for making sure the campers on your loop are happy and following campground rules and guidelines. In exchange for a full hook site, couples complete duties in roles such as gatehouse, retail, site clean up, light maintenance, etc.

Welcome to Lake Powhatan Recreation Area and Campground
Lake Powhatan is the finest in Asheville camping and is close to all the action of downtown! Located only 10 minutes from Asheville, North Carolina, this is the perfect spot to base your vacation. The campground borders the 6,000-acre Bent Creek Experimental Forest, a haven for mountain bikers, and is close to the French Broad River. The swimming lake and beach will give you a way to cool off in the heat of the summer, and for those who like to be out-and-about, the NC Arboretum and Blue Ridge Parkway are only a few miles from the entrance to the campground. Looking for camping in Asheville, NC? Nearby campgrounds in the area include North Mills River and Davidson River.

Gate hours are from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm (no walk-ins are allowed after 8:00 pm).
Two loops open year-round (Lakeside and Big John)
Full hook-ups on Lakeside Loop - sites 36-56
Weekend Family programs Memorial Day - Labor Day
97 mostly shaded sites
Limited electric hook-ups
Picnic tables, tent pads and fire rings
Hot showers and flush toilets in bathrooms
Firewood and ice available for purchase
Beach and swimming lake with lifeguard. No canoes, kayaks or SUPS. Lifeguards are on duty weekends only Memorial Day to Labor Day.
