Neighborhood Spotlight: The River Arts District

If you haven't been to the RAD lately, it's time. 🎨

When Helene swept through in 2024, the River Arts District took one of the hardest hits in Asheville (around 80% of creator spaces were lost, and many feared it wouldn't come back the same.)

But this neighborhood doesn't quit.

Studios have reopened. New galleries have opened their doors. Marquee is back. A brand new hotel just welcomed its first guests. And earlier this year, USA Today named the RAD the #1 arts district in the country. 💚

That's the Asheville Cottages sweet spot. Over 200 of our Google reviews mention the location, and by and large, the "best of both worlds" is the consensus.

Tucked away enough to feel like a true escape, but just minutes from everything that makes Asheville special — the Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore House, the Arboretum, Bent Creek, and all the incredible food, art, and music downtown has to offer.

Most staff meetings? Hard pass. Ours? Basically a party. 🦄🎉

When Marshall and I started building our team, we made a deal early on: no dull, check-the-box meetings. Marshall absolutely cannot stand boring work meetings, and honestly, neither can we.

So what started as regular staff meetings has slowly turned into what we now lovingly call our regularly scheduled parties.

This past one, our incredible manager Pam leaned ALL the way into a unicorn theme. We're talking themed snacks, drinks, games, prizes, and team-building activities. She has a true gift for making structure and fun happen at the same time.

We still cover the important stuff (how to keep improving your experience and making sure guests want to come back again and again) but it never feels heavy. And with a team that genuinely cares about these cottages the way ours does, the "business" part pretty much takes care of itself. 🏡✨

We're so grateful for this crew.
