The Pines Cottages is a great place to stay while visiting the Asheville area because we offer more than just a hotel room. Studio, one, two and three-bedroom cottages and log cabins. The Pines Cottages is an original cabin court that has been updated, but has kept the charm of the vintage cottages and cabins with the comforts of modern life. We are pet-friendly and are located on 4 1/2 acres with mature trees and gardens, yet only minutes from downtown Asheville, Biltmore Estate and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

What a weekend. 🍂 Thank you to everyone who stayed with us, wandered the festival, caught a show, and came home to the porch light. You made it a good one.

Now it’s Monday, our favorite little reset. Fresh linens, fluffed pillows, coffee on, and everything getting cozy for our next guests. 🏡

And the forecast is looking gorgeous here in Asheville this week. Crisp mornings, sunny afternoons, and the color is coming in fast. Leaf season, we’re ready for you. 🍁

Big weekend in Asheville, friends. 🍂

Saturday night, Bright Eyes takes the stage at The Orange Peel. Doors, a warm jacket, and a little nostalgia for your 2005 playlist? Yes please. 🎶

And all weekend long, the Lovely Asheville Fall Festival fills Pack Square Park with pumpkins, mums, and good fall energy. It’s free, so there’s no excuse not to wander over with a c***r in hand.

Our plan? Festival by day, show by night, porch light and blankets back at The Pines when it’s all over. 🏡

Partners in business, partners on the porch swing. 🍂

Karen and Allen run The Pines side by side. Same coffee pot, same to-do list, same daily debate over who’s grabbing the extra towels. Working this closely with your favorite person isn’t always easy, but it’s never boring.

After Helene, these old cottages needed a lot of love. So did our town. We rolled up our sleeves, leaned on each other (literally, see above), and slowly found new life in this old space. Every creaky floorboard and fresh coat of paint feels a little more like home because we rebuilt it together.

Karen's been hard at work in the garden, per usual 🌿 and the basil and rosemary have come in beautifully.

If you’re staying with us at The Pines, you’re absolutely welcome to snip some fresh herbs from the garden. And with all this gorgeous basil right now, homemade pesto feels like the obvious move.

Easy Fresh Basil Pesto:
2 cups fresh basil leaves
⅓ cup pine nuts (or walnuts)
2 cloves garlic
½ cup freshly grated Parmesan
½ cup olive oil
Squeeze of fresh lemon
Salt + pepper to taste

Blend the basil, nuts, garlic and Parmesan, then slowly add the olive oil until smooth. Finish with lemon, salt and pepper. Toss with pasta, spread it on crusty bread, or spoon it over chicken and veggies.
