Saturday, May 9th we had our annual required 5-hour Lecture Service at Biltmore Lodge. Members of Black Mountain and Swannanoa Lodges were also in attendance per the structure set by our DDGL, WB Gus Sims. In a significant fraternal gesture of Masonic brotherly love, WB Chris Lee, the 2025 Grand Lecturer of the Grand Lodge of NC, came from Knightdale, NC to conduct our Service. We started in our downstairs area with coffee and snacks and discussed topics of general interest, after which we went up to our lodge room where specific items of our ritual were covered. We also had a wonderful lunch featuring a variety of great things to eat. The entire event was most enjoyable, and was a great learning experience for each of us.

Thank you, WB Chris, for coming up to WNC to conduct our service. Thank you, also, to the best Kitchen Crew ever!

This evening was a profound experience in several ways. It was the evening Swannanoa Lodge voted to merge with Black Mountain Lodge. It was also the last time Swannanoa Lodge opened.....and closed.....as Swannanoa Lodge. It was an honor to be there, to witness it, and to be a part of it. It wasn't until the Closing Charge that the realization truly struck home.

Brethren, let us not forget:
Swannanoa Lodge No. 561, A.F. & A.M.
Dispensation granted: August 28, 1907
Charter issued: January 15, 1908

April 28, 2026 will be remembered as a very special moment in the history of Biltmore Lodge. WB Clay Sorrells was presented the Certificate of Life Membership and is now a treasured Life Member of Biltmore Lodge No. 446, A. F. & A. M. He was Raised on 9/16/1986 and has been -- and continues to be -- a pillar of strength and support to our lodge. The Certificate states ".....and having labored among us as a true and faithful Brother...". WB Clay has been so much more. Words cannot truly depict all that he has meant and done for our Lodge and for Masonry. He was escorted to the Altar by WB Larry Dotson, jr., where the award was presented by WB Michael Ogus.

Our stated communication of 3/10/2026 was preceded by an "English Breakfast" dinner. The idea was conceived by Brother Andrew Clark, who prepared the meal along with Brother Gary Clark. The meal included the expected British baked beans, toast and sausage as well as eggs, coleslaw, and WB Howard Hazelrigg's from-scratch cornbread. Following the meal we convened our weekly meeting. Brother Andrew Clark presented an interesting talk on The Working Tools of Life. Next week we will be visited by our District Deputy Grand Master, WB Michael Waldrop.

Here is part of our English Breakfast dinner:

We had a great turnout for our March 3 Stated. A new Petition for Degrees was read. Brother Andrew Clark had an idea for an "English Breakfast" supper to precede our next Stated Communication, so on March 10 at 6:15pm come prepared to dine on baked beans, toast, and possibly some surprise additions. March birthdays include WB Todd Lancaster and Brother Eric Willis.
